Location: Rhinelander | I nearly took one out like that with my truck on the way to Rhinelander from the WWA tonight. It was zipping across the road by Antigo, and totally surprised me. Missed it by inches.

Member Posts: 299 Location: Wind lake, Wi | here is another one, the same night just before I seen the bigger one. This buck is 6-8 feet from me. I was only seven feet up on a platform but he still did'nt know what I was. What a close encounter!! Talk about exciting!! Member Posts: 299 Location: Wind lake, Wi | I was thinking at that time- what if I tried jumping on him and start riding like a bull. Now that would be exciting, then again, maybe not. But, it was the closest I've been to a whitetail in the wild. I had an incident that was very similar. Afew years back my brother had shot a very nice 11 point buck and gave him an hour to lay and die. Well, he started tracking by himself also he was hunting by himself. It was getting very dark and he was on small drops of blood so he called me up and I drove ouy to help. We searched and searched throughout the endless night. It was 5:15 a.m. and we had gave up. I told him I was taking a different way out in hopes of finding the buck. As my search continued, I was five minutes down the path out when I seen a deer laying in on the path, I ran over to it sat on his back to hold the massive rack. So I yelled to my brother is this your buck, all of sudden the buck jumps up and bucked me off. The creature ran 20 yards and my brother ran up to it and slit it's throat. Now that was not exciting but a feeling I can not explain.
