Well, actually he smashed it...
We finished out our camping weekend w/ a little early morning trip on the water for a couple of hours. The payoff was huge for Nik. Just over 27", eclipsing his old personal best by several inches. Casting a crankbait to shoreline structure, overcast after several days of flat calm and sun,; it was just like they wrote it up in the articles...LOL

(walleyes are the result of an illegal introduction at this water, can't release them alive, so we'll eat it)

Nice fish, Nik! Interesting that walleyes would be considered invasives there, are trout the stars in that water?

No, trout aren't exactly stars, but they do reasonably well in that reservoir. The policy stems from the rash of illegal introductions of both smallmouth and walleye - both tend to overpopulate and outstrip their forage base out here. The idea is to not reward the illegal introduction by placing them under the umbrella of general regulations as sportfish. Any introduction not initiated by the Division of Wildlife Resources is now subject to being labeled as 'invasive'. Even if it initially appears to work great...
