I also had to decide rather to take my NEW 5 month old Lab puppy with us or leave her home and chance a natural disaster. I truly believe she is a cross between a Tasmanian Devil and a Velosa Raptor. And yes, the first thing we netted this morning once I stopped the boat out in the bay was the PUP. But she seemed to learn quickly and never walked the plank again the rest of the morning. In fact she behaved almost to well for a 6 month old pup's first trip in a boat. Hell, she even watched the front right rod the rest of the morning after her 33 degree swim. Anyway, the action between 9:30am and 10:30am was off the chart. We went 10 for 12 in those 2 hours. 6 Big Pike, one huge smallie and 3 very nice walleyes in the 4 to 5 pound range. Only odd part was the trolling speed at which we caught everything. 1.38mph using Bombers isn't usually the recommended program, but man they were destroying the Fire Perch and Silver/Chartreuse bombers at that speed. I do believe December 13th is the latest I've ever been able to troll on the Saginaw Bay. But it sure was nice to get out and have that great action. And I did keep 2 of the biggest Pike today as they had the Bombers swallowed from back to front and were not going to make it. Member Posts: 874 Location: Neenah, WI | Reminds me of the time several years ago when we were cutting Sturgeon holes. My buddy had his new black lab pup with him. As soon as the hole was cut and cleared that little dude was in the water. The first 2 times it was funny, after the 3rd time he was confined to the warm cab of the truck. | ||
