Member Posts: 2567 Location: Manitowoc, WI | I'm using Down East rod holders in a Berts Custom Track setup. After one year of using them I consider them to be the best rod holders I've ever used. In the past I've had Ram, Scotty, and Cabelas Quick Draw rod holders.

Been using ram since 99 and love them. Just changed to Pholbe on my last boat and all I can say is what a great product! Gotta try them and see for yourself. I suggest buying one and seeing for yourself.

Member Posts: 3899 | Folbe. Great rod holders, especially if you troll for Muskie's and Salmon. Not a better rod holder made.

I switched from Ram to scotty because of the extensions which I have had no problems with and have found them very handy when it comes to long line trolling. I can cock them straight out and straight in for the long rods and short ones. Works great John

![]() Member Posts: 2680 Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | Mine are the old "Fish On" holders I bought in 1986, 25 years ago for my drift boat. Added 8 more to my Jet Boat in 1988 for my river and Bay open water trolling needs. Only one I ever broke was the one I rammed into the dock on a bad and to fast approach to a down current boat ramp. Even then the base broke and not the holder itself. I'm not sure I've even read or been warned about any brand being on the cheap or flimsy side. Some simply fit the needs and design of certain boats better IMV. Edited by walleye express 1/30/2012 1:05 PM

My vote is for Tite-Lock rod holders, the tubular aluminum ones. They have held up to salmon, muskies and ramming boat docks. I'll take aluminum over plastic any day. That goes for boats too.

Member Posts: 125 | I partnered up with Traxstech when I rigged up my new Yar-Craft 219TFX last Sumer and absolutely love them. Solid and functional all the way around. I have 10 of their fully adjustable units in the trax along with their Swivel Downrigger mounts and one set of 3 place Bird Trees again which are fully adjustable. It is one sweet very flexible system. Check them out at www.traxstech.com

Member Posts: 53 | I have 12 Rams on my boat both flush and side mounts. They are o.k. at best. Built very good, no doubt......... just wish they adjusted and installed easier. Bill

a plastic red solo cup is all thats needed for walleye troll'n cause those HUGE 2 3/4" baits are sure rod benders. A heavy duty track system with tree arms is probably necessary cause something big might grab on, like one of those figleaf muskies that eat all the walleyes? then go ice fishing and use 4 - 10lb line and jig up a ten pounder on a 24" rod? Do you see what I'm getting at. Some guys got some major over kill of trolling setups on there boats, hey they sure do look nice.
