| Hi all. I'm new to this forum, but have been on MuskieFirst for a while. I've got a new to me 1997 690VS with a 150EFI Merc. It currently has a High 5 23p prop. During the test drive you could over rev easily, full tank and 3 guys, batteries, etc., but no fishing gear. Had it out yesterday on the Mississippi to try it out myself finally. GREAT hole shot, but can still over rev at full trim. I'm going to wait untill I can get it loaded with normal load to make any changes, but if any of you have a 690Vs with a 150, what are you running for a prop? What hole is you motor set on. What kind of performance are you getting? I could get a tad over 48mph going down current, with 2 in boat, and just over 50mph with just me, gps speeds. |

| I have a 1995 690VS with a 2006 Merc 150 Optimax and my numbers are more or less the same as yours.
I'm running a 3 blade -19 pitch Mercury Enertia SS prop at around 1500ft elevation here in Western PA. My motor is mounted in the middle hole. I can touch 49-50 [gps] on a flat lake when I'm loaded light and by myself, but it's more like 47-48 with 2 extra guys, equip, etc.
My holeshot is good, and my max rpm's are close to 5500-5600 according to my analog gauges. I have a 9.9 Kicker on mine to, which might slow it down a tad. |

| I had the same boat and ran a 21 Tempest prop with standard 12mm plugs.
I think you will be much happier with this prop. |

| Thanks guys. I replaced the sending unit for the trim so I could know for sure where it was sitting. Just me in boat on Thursday, I hit 53.2 gps mph @ 5600 rpm. I ran it up to full trim quick to check it, and I was at 6000 rpms. I'm trying to find a 23 Tempest to test with, but local dealer didn't have one. I might try the Trophy he had and see how that does too.
Thanks again,
