yep. According to the manual (if memory serves me right) any TC-W3 2-cycle oil. I used the HP-injector last year in my ProXS, no issues (so far).

Member Posts: 149 Location: Appleton, WI | Might be ok to use but....be aware if...if problems occur and it becomes a warrenty issue you may not be covered because of use of OTHER than Mecrury brand oil!! You may not ever run into issues but just be aware!

Member Posts: 3899 | How much is the Amsoil? Opti oil can be bought in bulk, and is much less than buying a packaged gallon. I've never used anything but Opti oil in mine, so I can't speak to how well anything else works. I do know some who use Merc Premium Plus oil in there Opti's and have had no issues.

I wouldn't use it in my Opti. Use Merc oil that was made for the motor.

Member Posts: 344 Location: Manitowoc WI | "oil that was made for the motor..." Almost sounds like a marketing stunt to sell merc oil.. odd isnt it? Amzoil HP Injector is a high quality oil. If you got an old smokey or a engine that has a light roughness at idle try it. Ive been using it bias free for 10 years in all my two strokes. The low line merc / evinrude / yam oil is comparible to supertech at walmart. 11$ a gal. Edited by budsbud66 4/29/2012 4:58 PM

![]() Member Posts: 650 | I'll agree with everybody here. I'd get the opti in bulk if I could. Amzoil is a great product. I myself will be trying royal purple this year. If I ever use the oil in the boat now. Royal purple products in my truck and car have been fantastic the last 2 years. This whole work deal sucks. I snooped around the net for low prices and free shipping on royal purple. price worked out good considering I didn't have to drive anywhere... could do the same for amzoil.

The question is. for 30$ a gallon would you rather run pure synthetic performance oil formulated? (amsoil) vs 30$ a gallon for NON-SYNTHETIC oil that is "STAMPED" with an outboard motor manufacture?

Member Posts: 3899 | I'd rather pay $24/gal of Mercury Opti Oil, which is a synthetic Blend, developed specifically for the OptiMax and 2-stroke DFI outboard engines.

Member Posts: 113 | alot of people dont know that walmart has semi synthetic merc oil for 27.99 a gallon which works for optis . The injectors on the optis operate at such high speed and use the oil to help cool them I would stick with the manufactor oil its formulated to take care of the injectors the properties on other oils is not the same. use what you want last year I rebuilt 13 motors due to oil issues i see it all

Fully synthetic is better then non(semi) synthetic Fully synthetic burns a lot cleaner than stright dinosaur and the synthetic blends so you get less smoke and more importantly less carbon buildup. The engine failure comes from carbon build up, NOT some special additive for the fuel injectors. Actually ANY sythnetic is gonna fly through your injectors better then the old tar oil of the 1950's. (standard merc oil) Adj. 1. gullible - naive and easily deceived or tricked; ( what engine manufactures are doing to you to put extra $$ in there pocket ) Amsoil has been setting the standards in two stroke oil and other lubricants in the industry for 40 years. Statisticly speaking, if we ALL ran HP Injector in are engines, on average they ALL would have less piston ring wear and less cylinder wear. What this means? on a properly maintained engine you could get several more years of use before a rebuild is required. The exception is those running 100% synthetic merc / rude / pennz ect.. They also would have a longer life. So whats it gonna be? Dinosaur Tar? or 100% synthetic for nearly the same price?
