| I've always had mine on the port side, but am considering putting my new one on the right side. Each side has some pros and cons from what I can figure.
Anyone have any strong arguments for either side?

| I have always put mine on the right side because I'm right handed. I also like it because when I drift for muskies with suckers I always fish off the port side. I don't always put the bow mount down when I fish like this so this way its out of the way. The biggest reason is when I drive the boat onto the trailer, I go up front and hook the strap on with safety chain. I crank the strap tight and its out of the way on the right. Don't go by what I say though. I'm the only one I have seen it mounted like this. |

| The cranking is something I didn't think of, but my current method has me getting out of the boat to crank it, so it's not really a factor.
I agree having it on the right is easier if I am anchored.
I was thinking that since I normally have the dock on the port side when launching/landing that the bowmount would be out of the way on the right side, but I think even though the head is clear, you have to watch for the prop hitting a dock post.

Location: Appleton wi | Dave all my boats in the past have had the bow mount mounted as closes to the center of bow as possible . I angle the bowmount so when the unit is up and in storage position its not sticking out into the interior of boat but right above gunnel.
I use a rod holder mount setup to secure the bowmount when traveling. If you have a spare tire up front on your trailer you migth wanna mount on opposite side than the spare. |

Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | Typically a console boat will have the t-motor mounted to the port. When you dock you try to dock on the starboard side of the boat so as to reach out and grab dock when you come in. This way you do not rip motor off. On tillers it is to the starboard as you dock to port side of the boat so you can stand to grab dock. Outside of that, to each his own. |
