Location: Rhinelander | It's going to be bumpy on the Bays De Noc today, and there's a very good possibility for rough weather during the day. That prospect didn't seem to bother any of the top ten as they headed out this morning under cloudy skies and brisk winds. Lund/Mercury Pro Chad Schilling finally had the Angler of the Year win sink in. He's ready to rumble this morning and is already $10K richer because of the AOY win. Korey Sprengel is in the lead, and is going to run a long way to his fish today. He feels the wind will make for a tougher ride, but will fire up his bite even more. The forecast for moderately rough conditions will probably keep the weekend traffic to a minimum, so the field will pretty much have their spots to themselves. Spinners are king, but Ross Grothe is pulling Husky jerks for his fish, and all the Pros seemed to have cranks as option sets today in case the winds and rough seas arrive and make pulling spinners too much of a chore. The National Guard Soldier Appreciation event is also underway with ten Pros and 20 national Guard soldiers hitting the water for a day of walleye fishing and some friendly competition. Festivities at the Wal Mart parking lot will begin at noon, and the NG Appreciation weigh in at about 3. The Top Ten weigh in will begin a 4 Eastern. We all are hoping the rough storms in the forecast avoid Escanaba. WalleyeFIRST coverage of the FLW is brought to you by Lund Boats and Mercury Marine! Not taking anything away from anybody but Nick Shertz is probably the best tournament angler for the past 3 to 4 years. Just my thoughts. | |||

Location: Rhinelander | Mercury Pro Korey Sprengel fished his third FLW Walleye Tour event this weekend as one of the the youngest Pros ever in the FLW field, and held up against the majority of the field all the way from day one on Bays De Noc winning by capping his two day total with enough to barely beat Ryan Dempsey and take home a check f0r $50.000. Danny Plautz finished third.
