Got tired of setting around jumping from site to site and board to board, so headed out to Franks Great Outdoors (in Linwood) for the start of their 3 day ice fishing show. And the whole trip only cost me $93.00. But before you quit reading what you may think is going to be a dull post read-on.

Walked into Franks and headed straight for the Do-Jigger board and made sure I picked up some of my favorite size 3CH Do-Jiggers with the Green/Red/Blue lightening bolt reflextor tape down the middle. Those are the one's for the Bay my friends.

Then noticed a couple things I haven't seen before. I always liked the Stinger Scorpion Spoons for sliders but always wished they made a heavier model that a man might jig with ice fishing. Walla!!!, there they were. 1/2 ounce versions of my favorite trolling colored Stingers Scorpions, Rainbow Trout and Watermellon. Bought some of them.

Was going to leave when I noticed some new Storm Wild Eye Jigging Soft Minnows. At first glance they simply looked like rubber minnows similar to a sassy shad body. But are really a rubber ice fishing version of the Jigging Rapala. With a lead inner core with a minnow shaped molded around it. I mean these things look great and just might work. Not only that but they were only $3.99 for four of them. Like the real Jigging Rapala, it has to small a belly hook for my likes. But could easily be switched out for a bigger one. So I bought a few packs of them to try. By the way, if you haven't seen them yet, I attached a couple digital photographs. They really do look sweet.

So I thought I was going to get home without spending any more money. Then got a wiff of Geno's Smoked Fish House on the highway. Had to stop in. Bought 1 pound of Cajun and Italian White Fish Sausage. Bought 1/2 of a smoked lake Trout. 1/2 of a smoked White Fish. And one giant smoked Lake Chub. Now I'm as happy as a pig in poop.

Oooh, I love smoked Whitefish!

The Jigging Wild Eyes look pretty nice. I'll keep my not so wild eyes open for them.

You did well, at only $93.00. Course, I'm used to going to Muskie shows!

Shep.

Just finished with some of my little snacks I picked up. Man, I should have picked up more of those smoked Lake Chubs. They were outstanding.

It's ok, WE. I just had one of Milwaukee's best Burgers. Sobleman's Sobleburger. Taaaaasstyyyy!!!! Maybe I'll pick up some smoked chubs and whitefish at the Eden Meat Market tomorrow on that way back from pheasant hunting. If I get enough birds, I'll have to drop some off for smoking by them!

Say with Homer Simpson enthusiasm. Smoked...Pheasant Ohhhhhhhh..Aghhhhhhh. Drullllll.

That has to be the food of the God's. I smoked my own a few times and it was thee best. Even Duck and Goose turned out great. Our Pheasant season closed on the 14th of November. Not a lot of wild birds around here anymore. But me and 5 of my buddies purchase and release 35 roosters in my brother-in-laws 160 acre field and hunt them. Surprisingly, they act like wild ones as soon as they hit the weeds. They get to fly around from the guy we buy them from. He has 9 acre pens. We buy the Big Jumbo Ringnecks and some chisquan Black Pheasants, about 5 or 6 pounds each. Check out the attached picture.

OK, I'll bite. What is a do-jigger? Jig or jigging spoon?

Brad.

It's a jigging spoon made by the same people who make the Sweedish Pimple. I'm not sure this Michigan Upper Peninsula based company has a web site, but I will check and see if they post any pictures of it. Here ya go Brad. www.baydenoclure.com/jigger.htm

WE,

Nice, big Tazmanian Roadrunners! And nice looking Black Lab. I get my new pup on the 28th!

Yup, the smoked Taz is top notch! That, and the Garlic Venison Summer is some of favorite snack food. Just got done with some Lake EIre eye's for supper. It's now nap time!

Capt. Dan,

I just got back from the St.Paul Ice fishing show myself. I saw the same Storm minnows you are talking about, but did not buy any today. I should have stopped and taken a harder look at them, but I assumed the internal weights had rattle beads in them. Do they? I think that would really make them the ticket.

Stopped and visited with Steve Worrall while I was there too. He's checking the message board on a regular basis. (He wasn't too busy when I stopped by).

Also, wasn't it Homer Simpson that said, "Nothing beats a cocktail wiennie!" Think I'll go grab another venison pepper stick, you made me hungry again.

It is alot busier today, despite the fact we are stuck back in the 'low rent' district at the show. We gave away 500 cards today and yesterday, so I underestimated the attendance pretty bady or I would have ordered 1000!

Ya know that didn't dawn on me, I didn't even shake them or anything to find out. The shape of the lead does look a little like those BB chamber gizmos though don't they? I've already put them in my ice fishing box on the 4 wheeler, so I'll have to wait until I put the chains on the tires tomorrow and I'll check.

Caught my biggest walleye ever on a do-jigger icefishing at LBDN last year. The only problem was I had already iced a 26 incher, and couldn't keep it. Oh yeah, another problem was, had no ruler, scale, or camera!

However, did document the experience with a story on another web site. Its a great story that recieved much praise and I'll repost it here when the ice gets thick enough.

No problem about not having a picture of your Big LBDN walleye. Feel free to go into my photo gallery, copy and then super impose your face on any of the one's I'm holding.

Hate to say it, but I'm kinda glad they did. Not only was it getting me fired up, but it's obvious that only the very few truly think it's ethical to pose with somebody elses trophy for any reason. And those few seem to be mostly the Pro's. And questioning the ethics and integrity of Pro's on the WC board will never be tolerated. I see they locked up the NPAA post as well. That post is poison any time it gets posted as well.

Steve, stay away from those $4.00 Beef sticks at the show. I had one yesterday after I left you and have been worshiping the porceline temple all day because of it. Hope the rest of the show goes good for you.

I'll call you Monday.

Dan, they can wipe out all the posts about this scam they want. The internet will continue to expose this for what it really is. Just will take a different path to get there.

*They may describe the practice as a marketing tool, but its still a scam and I take my hat off to any "Pro", or other publicity driven fishing personality who denies the practice.*

Dan and Rick,
That poll was read by many and supported by same. Until you posted it, I never gave it much thought, but now that the scam is exposed, I hope that there is at least a second thought about misrepresentation by the perps. I think most of the pros value their integrity and public personna. IF another imposter is exposed, I say give'em the devils due. Marketing can a should represent true values. Sure, a little sizzle here and there can be sorted out, but what you are holding in front of your face should be your catch, plain and simple. Lets see what shakes out.
Take care,
Jim O

Good Poop Jim.

And if the truth be known, I think anybody who has done this feels that (sick to the stomach) feeling when doing so, or has been brought up never feeling guilt about anything he's ever done.

To be honest Jim, I hadn't given it much thought either, until reading the first post of the "other" thread. To my way of thinking, that is a debate that the scammers will never win.

The results of the poll and that last post really did shake the foundation. It very obvious most (90% most), disagree with its practice and the perpetrators should either find a way to hide, while they accomplish their dirty deed, or quit the practice entirely.

Because it will hurt their credibility, should they be caught.
