Location: Manitowoc, WI | Finally got the chance to get out and fish LBDN this weekend. Had Pat Schuette and his stepson Ethan with me in the boat Sunday. We looked at the launches in Gladstone and Escanaba before deciding to launch in the Escanaba River. The launch was free of ice and should stay that way for another week or so.
Over the course of the day, we caught 10 walleyes, with the biggest being a 11.4 lber reeled in by 11 year old Ethan. I got to baptise my new boat with the first fish which was my biggest for the day, a 9.6 lber. Other fish were anywhere from 3-8 lbs. Best lures were the AJ Purple Prism and the Blue/Silver Matzuo. Wind was kicking at about 15-20 mph out of the SSE, creating 2-4 ft waves for the day. I had some good info on a big fish bite South of Escanaba, but due to the weather we decided to stay around the mouth of the Escanaba River. If anyone is considering going, let me know and I'll set you up with the program we ran while we were out. Two other boats stayed out for another hour or so after dark and really hammered them, so the better bite is still the first hour after dark. |

Location: Rhinelander | Wow, nice fish! Looks like this weekend may end the opwen water up there, with temps below zero forecast. Wish I had time to get over there this week. Any pictures of the fish you caught? If so, post a couple here! |

Location: Manitowoc, WI | I'll try to get some pictures on here later this week. I also had the chance to talk to some other guys who were up there over the weekend and they did well after dark in the same areas, so if the launches are open, good fishing is still available. |
