Hey just curious if anyone uses a baitcaster set up to pitch/cast jigs and cranks? If so what is the set up? I am going to purchase a few new combos this spring and I am looking for ideas...any info is much appreciated.

Shimano Curado's are my go to baitcaster reels. I like 7' fast action rods.

Sunshine and his curados are a great choice. I myself have been using revo STX reels since they came out. can cast or pitch anything. free spool is amazing with alot of adjustability. match it up with a 6-6 or 7ft med action rod and you'll be all set. I get alot of stuff done with a 6ft med action baitcaster too...

Abu Garcia Black Max. Small, Strong and no need to sell one of your children for the price. Casts great for years and it catches anything that swims. I've had the same 2 reels for 22 years. Just bought 2 more last spring. Spool them with Power Pro 10/30. I use them for ice fishing, Jig fishing for white fish and walleyes, spring smallies fishing and use them in the fall to cast and catch 25 pound king salmon in the rivers.

Any kind of Rods, medium to medium heavy 6 to 7 foot.

I looked around for a decent picture of the Black Max in an actual picture with some fish. Found this one from 9 years ago. The old Black Max back then was round, unlike the modern version. I team it with my 6' Berkley "Rough Neck" rod, because Kings this size combined with the close confines of the rivers I fish in for them demand you have immediate power and control or you loose. They don't make the Rough Neck any more, because if they did I'd buy 5 more today. They are about the same flexability and temper strength as a 22 ounce pool stick.

I use right and left handed flippin reels for my river set up for pulling flies.

Shimano something or other works great. Jut make sure you have the lefty/righty matched up so you can easily let out line and reel in when required.
