| What type and weight of line do you prefer on a bait casting reel for "pulling flies" and "slow death"

| I like 8# mono I know alot of guys use braid but i like the stretch when i set the hook ,I actually let the fish hook itself. I prefer using spinning equipment keep my drag on the light side and just pull line out if i go deeper.

Location: Orland Park, IL | Well, it depends. When pulling flies via 3 way, 8lb test is the way to go. Dropper weights and lengths vary depending on body of water, eg, lake or river. When casting flies via 3 way, I like the 6lb xt. Usually a 1/4 or 3/8 weight works great for casting. When pulling (trolling), go heavier.
Heres my setup for the upstream of the mouth of the fox off winnebago when casting. 6lb xt, 1/4 oz on 6 inch dropper, double fly on 3 foot leader.

| I don't pull many fly's so I'll just tell you what I use for slow death rigs.
20# Sufix 832 & my leaders are 10# Trilene XT.
I mainly fish on Lake Wisconsin which is tannic stained. (think light coffee color)
We do put a lot of fish in the boat every year on slow death rigs.
We have quite a few stumps & other snags in Lake Wisconsin. This setup allows me to put out 4 to 6 rods in holders. If one gets snagged, I just point that rod directly at the snag, thumbed down hard on the reel and pull it out. Bend the hook back to normal, reload and keep right on going. I can usually bend a Mustad Slow Death hook back 5 or 6 times before it needs to be replaced.

Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | 20lb Power Pro on main line. Flourocarbon line with flies (8-10) See Winnebago Walleye report for setup. I like pencil weights. While slow trolling use enough weight to keep rig st a 45° angle. Use Mark's suggestion for casting. Setup also works in anchored postion and letting setup drift down river.
