Member Posts: 1991 | Full Throttle Fishing Kicks Off The 2014 Season In Red Wing, MN NPAA Tournament Partner Published May 1, 2014 Full Throttle Fishing excitement returned to the Mississippi River at Red Wing, MN April 19th to launch the 2014 Tournament season. The Friday night meeting provided great fellowship among anglers and was highlighted by an inspirational and powerful message, which was well timed on Good Friday from River Dan. Elks Club provided an excellent dinner with burgers and all the fixings, thanks to the Red Wing Chamber of Commerce for finding a meeting site in beautiful downtown Red Wing. Keith Kapaun was the winner of the Mathews Mission Riot Bow package and lessons from Pete Hein and Team Flatline Outdoors. Tom Brunz was the winner of the Limit Creek Smoothie Rod and Tony Ward was the winner of the Kistler Rod. Launch time rolled around, the winds where a little fierce, the water was up and the water temps had dropped from the previous week making fishing conditions a little more challenging but the skies where rain free and the temps where comfortable for the Walleye and Bass teams which where up to the challenge of dissecting the conditions at hand. At weigh in time on the Bass side of the event Brian Harmon & Randy Wieczorek where victorious with 8.04# the teams of Seth Feider & Austin Felix took 2nd place with 5.73# and Michael Walters & Dave Walters took 3rd place with 5.21#. Big Bass of the day was 4.16 Smallmouth going to Jeremy Evans & Chris Linder. On the Walleye side Kevin Klimmek & Harvey Klimmek where victorious with 12.66# the of Jarod Kopp & Adam Schmitt took 2nd place with 10.45# and 3rd palce going to the last years river champs and father/son team of Peter Wells and Alex Wells with 9.94#. Big Walleye honors going to Scott St. Sauver with a dandy 8# Walleye. Full Throttle Fishing also hosted a NPAA Future Angler Foundation event at the end of the weigh in handing out rod and reel combos along with other fun fishing items. There are some exciting changes for the 2014 Full Throttle Fishing season, payback to the tourney angler increase to 100% of entry fee's based on cash and prizes! At each event this year we will be giving away a brand NEW MATTHEWS bow at the pre-tournament dinner meeting sponsored by Flatline Outdoors, Full Throttle, and Pete Hein. Included in the package will be a shooting lesson and free set up lesson with pro Pete Hein. Trophies are sponsored by Lindner's Angling Edge T.V show for both the bass, walleye, and big fish winners. This year is going to be about giving back to the fisherman there fore increasing participation. Each Full Throttle event will have something special for the kids. A NPAA Future Angler Foundation event will follow each regular scheduled Full Throttle tournament weigh in. Special thanks to NPAA pro's Tom Davis and Kirt Hedquist for hosting the kid's event. 15 rods and reels will be given away at each event along with lots of door prizes along with a fishing basics seminar and watching out for invasive species.
