Hi there everybody. This will be my third year with my boat. I fish mostly the Winnebago chain. My question is about leadcore. I dont know if i'm doing this right. So I will tell you what I plan and hopefully some of you guys will give a little bit of your knoweldge to help me with the rest. I plan on running a 20 foot leader of mono. I don't now how much leadcore to let out to get down to 16-18 feet. I will be going about 1.5mph. My leadcore is 18Ib. test. Thanks for all your help.

OK,

As you probably already know the depth a bait reaches with leadcore is very speed dependant. The depth of the crankbait will also influence what depth is attained. One other factor that will influence depth in segmented leadcore trolling is the diameter of your backer. Baits will run deeper with a backer such as 10/4 Fireline or thin braid, and shallower with a thicker mono backer. I would say that either 2 or 3 colors of lead (60 or 90') will work for you at those speeds. Just let a little more or less backer to get in the zone. Once you dial in the depth/lead length, minor changes can be made by tweeking the throttle.
