Subject: Flasher Spoons - Help wanted.



Can someone point me to a source on the Web for ordering flasher style spoons (ie. stinger scorpion style) without hooks or split rings. Also, any preferences for paint / finish durability? Capt. Dan, perhaps you could point me in the direction of your supplier for spoons for your spoon harnesses? Thanks in advance for your help.

Location: Rhinelander		I think Stamina might have them. I will look over the catalog and post the link if they have spoons.

The WalMarts are clearing out some spoons and you'd better check your local store. Some of them have alot on the shelf, and if you want to play the game, just wait awhile, as Walmart needs the room and will get aggressive if no one is buying.

Here is my strategy: if there are alot, check back regularly to find out if others are buying, and if not, I wait for a better price. However, if you are happy with the price as marked, then I suggest you save some money!

And buy some!

I was using 3 different sources for my spoon harnesses. I started out by using stinger Jr.s I bought myself paying retail at the store, when I first got and refined the spoon harness idea last spring. I tried to contact and get a BULK deal from Stinger, but the price for same was not what I'd call a deal. So trying to keep my spoon harnesses at least under $5.00 each when being retailed by the store I'm wholsaleing them to, I bought a bulk bag first from Fishlander Sports Fishing Products. www.fishlander.com

They had the same 2 1/4" (with the stingers being called 2 5/8") hammered spoons in all the great colors and more made by stinger. So I contacted Mike Steffes, General manager and made a deal for my first bag. It would probably be a bad policy for me, and could embarass Mike to state what the price was on the spoons here. Let's just say I was pleased with and could live with the reduced price versus the stingers.

I also used Jan Net craft to order some spoons a little larger that were not hammered and some that were in the 2 5/8 versions that were. To be honest, the paint comes off kinda easy around the eye area on the netcraft spoons when attaching the components. But that fact is offset by the even cheaper price that they sell them for. All accomplished my goal (in total) of keeping the wholsale price below $4.00 to the retailer, while still making a modest profit for my labors. And these babys are labor intensive believe me. Let's face it, paying anything under $5.00 a pop these days for lures that work and few other people have as far as fishing lures go, is unusual.
