| Recently upgraded to a 24v trolling motor from 12v. Pulled new wires, upgraded circut breaker, installed new plug/receptical, new matched batteries, etc. Question is, can I leave my batteries hooked in series and charge both simultaneously with a charger rated for 24 volts by hooking charger to + of battery 1 and - of battery two, or do I have to pull the jumper wire and charge each battery seperately? Reasons why? No room for an onboard charger. Thanks much for your advice

| You can charge your batteries two ways. one would be a 24volt charger across both batteries as you suggested. Or you can put a 12 volt charge across each individual battery, either with a 2 bank on board charger or 2 seperate chargers.

| Thank-you Jayman. Any advantage to charging while hooked in series versus charging seperately or vise-versa, in your mind?

Location: Omro,Wi. | What you should have is a 4-wire outlet,for your bow mount motor,both batteries have the (+) and(-) connected to it.Then all you need to do is get the charging adapter plug,this way you can hook a normal batterie charger up to the plug,and charge both batteries equally.....hafe |
