Member Posts: 378 Location: Omro,Wi. | Starting this post,to share some of mine, and your tips. The little things we do,when fishing that others might not have thought of yet.DID YOU KNOW THAT WHEN CASTING JIGS,WITHY A STINGER HOOK,THAT ADDING A 1/2 OF A fLOAT,LIKE THE ONES USED ON SPINNER HARNESSES,IT WILL KEEP THE TREBLE OFF BOTTOM,AND CLEAR OF WEEDS? Trick is to cut the styrofoam float in half, put it onto your line "before" tying your jig on,slide it up over the stinger hook.It also acts like a atrractent(SP?) too.

Member Posts: 378 Location: Omro,Wi. | EVER HAVE TROUBLE BACKING YOUR VEHICLE UP TO THE BOAT TRAILER? GETTING IN AND OUT OF IT TO LINE UP THE BALL? Heres a simple trick, that with just a little practice, makes it allmost foolproof------->Use the dimmer button on your rear view mirror as the rear gunsight, line it up with the handle(turned up) on your topper,or the center of your rear window if van or car. Most will have a connection where the window molding connects. If not put a piece of tape on the bottom center of the rear window.Line up these two sight pins with the bow of your boat. Now the boat&trailer will be centered on the ball.Next when you get home, before unhooking the trailer put a small piece of 2x4,or tape on the driveway, that is behind your drivers side rear tire.Simply line up the sites,go backwards to your 2x4 0r mark, get out hook up the boat, and go-fishing......hafe Edited by Hafe 4/10/2004 7:05 AM

Location: Rhinelander | Great tip on the trailer back-up trick. I have done that for years! If driving a vehicle with no topper, a grease pencil line or scribe line in the center will line you up near every time. Also, when backing up to the ball under guidance by another angler, have them indicate the distance between the hitch and ball as you get close by putting their hands near together and adjusting to a clap when exactly over the ball. Hollering 'more', 'closer', is tougher on the driver.

Member Posts: 378 Location: Omro,Wi. | STINGER HOOKS.....> I was sitting in the boat after work tonight, and watched a friend tie on his jig, then fumble around, trying to get the line for the stinger hook through the hook eye.Needless to say there is not much room left, after tying one knot already. The secret is to tie the jig on,and leave 6-inches of line on the tag end. Then tie the stinger hook to that line.....Don't forget the float.....hafe

Location: Rhinelander | What type knot are you tying with that stinger set up?

![]() Member Posts: 2680 Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | Hook your minnows upside down. Hook him between the eyes and through the boney part of the head first, then out under the chin of the minnow. That does two things. I flashes the whit belly of the minnow as your jigging, making him look more like a wounded easy meal to the hungry walleye. And two, the minnow will stay on the jig hook for 25 casts or more before being thrown or ripped off, guaranteed. If pausable, drop your tailgate on your truck before you back your trailer down the ramp to pick up your boat. That gives you way more visability, when the boat is not on to give you a reference point. Also gives you a place to set down and winch your boat out of the water for those low-water ramps, where the truck is virtually in the water itself. Edited by walleye express 4/13/2004 9:09 PM

For those who think about trolling with Power-Pro or Fireline,I have worked out a formula, that coresponds to the depth guide in the books. Last year I came up with it,and after many days, narrowed it down........150 feet of 10lb. mono equals 100 feet of the super lines. In other words devide the line out ,suggested by three and multiply that number by two, to get the correct depth of the bait you are using..when using these lines.Hope with the trolling season approching this helps....hafe
