What rods and reels do you use for jigging? What is the brand, size, and power of them? Just wondering because I am looking at buying one more rod and am wondering what everyone uses before I make my decision. Thanks.

6' Techna by Fenwick, medium fast with a 1000 series reel, I use Abu-Garcia.

A couple rods no longer made..lol.. St Croix Pro Graphite, 5'9" with a Shimano reel(symetre); a St Croix Legend 6'6" with a shimano reel(not sure what model); and a Pro Star 6'6" with a shimano reel. I think all are medium action. Shimano's would all be the 200/2000 sizes.

Last year, I bought 2 Gander Tourney Series, 6' MLF rods. I put the new Mitchell 308XGold reels on them. $100 per set up, and they are really quite nice. I really like the St Croix Avids, but for the money, I had to try this combo. So far, I'm satisfied.

My favorite is a Mag-Light G. Loomis with an ex-fast tip, coupled with a Shimano Stradic 1000. My main concern when purchasing a rod for pitching jigs was that it be light with a stiff (less flexing) tip so the jig would transmit very twitch through the rod to my hands. Hence my choice.

Now this rig is expensive, and will even be more once I get a Stella Reel for my new rod, but what you buy depends on your financial situation and priorities. I just figurre that while other people spend money on smoking, drinking, gambling and other such vices, instead of these it's my vice to spend it on expensive fishing equipment!

My all time favorites are a Berkley Eagle, in the 6'6" series, medium light matched with a Quantum Axiom reel, spooled with 6 pound test Vanish line. Have used this combo for 3 years now, and would have nothing else.

Good luck fishing, and keep the lines tight.
