I just bought one today. Anyone have any expierence with these? The thing that i really liked about them is they feel just like the St Croix Legend Elite series and have a LIFETIME WARRANTY.....even if they get broken in a car door or rod locker they will replace it. The rods haven't been out long at all so I figured I'd spend the $120 and try one out.

Who ever does Scheels rods puts together a pretty good package. Not a bad rod by any stretch of the imagination.

Something I'm sure you're bound to hear, or already have heard is... "It's made by St. Croix (or Loomis) and it's half the price." DO NOT be fooled by those type statements. Yes St. Croix, Loomis, Shikari, Lamiglas and others roll up rod blanks for places like Scheel's, Galyan's, Gander Mountain, etc. but they aren't St. Croix (or Loomis, etc.) rods. Period. St. Croix is not going to sell their proprietary blends of graphite and their proprietary tapers to mass retailers so they can in turn undercut them on pricing. It just won't happen. What does happen is Scheel's puts out bids on rods. Scheel's specs out blank graphite composition, taper, components, dimensions, etc.. Who ever needs some work bids on the job. Lowest bidder gets the job. And they make the product that was requested to the customers specifications.

Scheel's, Galyan's, Gander Mountain, Cabela's, Bass Pro all have a pretty nice rod.

I checked those out also at scheels and am an owner of a couple legend elite rods. I think the legend elite rods are incredible.

But I was pleasantly surprised when I compared the two rods just by picking them both up at the same time. For the price its really hard to ignore those scheels rods. Until you actually fish with them though its hard for me to say for sure how they compare. I think I will probably add one of the scheels rods to my collection soon.
