Subject: Illinois Walleye Trail Tournament results May 15,16, 2004


The Illinois Walleye Trail completed its 2004 season on Lake Shelbyville, with its two day State Finals on May 15-16.

First place honors went to Joe Tonozzi from Dalzell and James Melton from Wyoming, IL with a two day 11 fish catch weighing 22.92 pounds. They received big fish honors for Sunday with a 2.78 walleye. Jim and Joe were in second place after day 1, fishing the Skull flat area with jigs and crawlers. Their first place finish earned them $1270.00.

Second place honowrs went to the team of Rick Parrott from Sparland and Mike Tatera from St. Charles, IL with a two day 8 fish catch weighting 17.47 pounds. They also received big fish honors for Saturday with a 5.61 pound walleye, earning $815.00.

Third place honors went to Gary and Bruce Merkel from Spring Valley, IL with a two day catch of 7 fish weighing 13.27 pounds. They received a check for $225.00.

Hey John did you find the rod you were looking for. I checked and its not in the boat so hopefully you got it. Need I ask how the weather was in your last tourn.

They need to shoot a video on me testing rainsuits. I will tell you what,I lost alot of respect for muskie tourney fisherman after this weekend. The PMTT should talk to there fisherman about boat safety. It was not all the boats in the tourney that buzzed about 10 of us trolling, just about 50 of them. Its a big lake and there was no reason for that but just to have fun weaveing in and out of our boats. When we are trolling within 25 yards of a shore and there is 3/4 to 1 mile of lake on the other side, there is NO reason to come inbetween boats and the shore. I`m sure the local guy in that little jonboat fishing with his son that almost got hit really likes tourney fisherman now.
