Just a few things I'd like to know about them before spending double the money for boards that I basically have, without the internal built in lighting. They don't mention what energy source runs the lighting system. Is it batteries you have to change? What type batteries and how many. Is it Solar energy? Is it that system that is water activated, like those flashing strobe crankbaits they sell? How water tight is the battery chamber. Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to cheapen your post or their product. But for me and many others fishing the Great Lakes, the night bite season is a narrow window of opportunity. And the lighting factor being built in, although handy, might become broken with the rough handling the boards would receive in regular use throughout the year. I use little strobe lights that I place at the top (on the flag) of my Offshore boards. These work great and only cost about $4.00 each. I've used some of the same ones for going on 3 season now. A man who already has an arsenal of the regular Inline boards would have to weigh the options and advantages of investing in another 6 to 8 boards at double the price for each. I think at that price, their market will be more with the guy just starting out and can kill two birds with one investment.

Member Posts: 389 | "Finally the Action of the Board: To our pleasant surprise we were amazed in the action of the lightening board The board now ran with a stop-n-go action. As you troll along, the board rides high and pulls forward, then waits for the boat to catch up, always keeping your fishing line between your boat and the board tight. This causes the stop-n-go motion, putting more action in your trailing lure." Ok, here's my question... What if the fish don't want "that action"? And, it's certainly an action that I can control with my present boards. That's too much to pay for something that only does it one way...IMHO As Capt. Dan wonders...so do I, what type of charging system operates the lights? I think I'll stick to what I know works already, and doesn't cost as much. I'll stick with my Off Shore boards, thanks. Glow sticks work just fine for me. Juls

Guys this year we got away from lights and used a strip of hi-vis orange luminescent tape on the top of the board and running along the length of it. You can clearly see what the board is doing at all times. During the daylight hours the tape blends in, no lights and no fuss. Just a suggestion.

Member Posts: 3899 | 9 Volt Battery, said to last up to 32 hours. Key words, "up to". IMHO, when I see anything powered by a 9v battery, I think of very short run times. As far as the stop and go action, that's all we've had this year with the weather! hehehe There are some new tipup lights that I used last year icefishing. Very bright LED light, and calculator battery last for months, not hours. I could see the tip up flag from 1/4 mile away. I'm thinking I may try to adapt these to the boards with tattle tails, and when I don't see the flag, I will know I either have a fish, or maybe dragging something. I've got 24 in-line boards right now. Not thinking I need another 6 for the price of 12. OOPS, 6 for the price of 18! Edited by Shep 6/9/2004 10:05 AM

Member Posts: 299 Location: Wind lake, Wi | You all make very good points and I don't think I would pay that much for them. I seen them on ebay (forgot the price) then checked out their website. I don't do enough night fishing anyway ( or fishing....). Juls also made an excellent point about the surging stop and go action. I would like to see one in action.

Member Posts: 794 Location: Elgin, Illinois | Okay... slow down on the price issue... Offshore boards... $22.00 plus the clamp down line holder $12.00...plus the tattle tale $15.00.... hmmm $49.00 each... And the Offshores aren't illuminated... Everything in this game costs big bucks... $40,000 truck and a $40,000 boat... 1500 crankbaits at $4.00 each and I'm discussing a couple hundred for planar boards....
okay |

Okay. Do they have tattle flags? No. Do they have snapper releases? No. I wonder about how long they will last bouncing around in a boat before they start leaking. I see they do have a 90 day warranty. Nice idea, but....

Member Posts: 377 Location: Neenah Wi | I looked at the releases and ordered 6 I will let you all know how they work.Looks to me that they will work as well as the snappers and less than half the price. If I did not have boards already I would seriously think about buying these. After all the extras you put on the other boards they are near the same price.

Member Posts: 794 Location: Elgin, Illinois | Do they have tattle flags?... Yes... apparently it is some type of strobe... Do they have snapper relases... apparently something similar... Am I buying... no not now... I use light sticks on my tattle flags...

Member Posts: 377 Location: Neenah Wi | Hey Hafe I'll take all the $1.00 tattle flag kits you can get me.I made my own too.But it was a little more than a buck.Let me add it up $20 board $10 snappers and $3 for the 18 clips and $2-3 for tattle flags.Lights $1-4 That comes to over $35each.A friend of mine said yes fishing equipment is overpriced but you still would buy it if it worked.I'll stick with my off shore too.But the releases look good enough to try out.

Member Posts: 299 Location: Wind lake, Wi | Just to let some of you know that some here that make their own tattle flags for a buck or so have done their homework. I made mine for the price of a spring which cost me 65 cents but I got the wire from work. Very easy to do. And the springs that I found did two boards for one spring. I think I will stick to my offshores too.

Member Posts: 377 Location: Neenah Wi | I recieved the releases I ordered and the pads are a liitle too slick. The line if only ran once through the pads does slip fairly easy.Well I will be using them for stackers on the down riggers out on the big pond.Bought 6 snappers from fleet.Good idea that needs refinement.
