Skeeter Boats joins forces with FLW Outdoors Skeeter Boats 01.Jul.2004 MINNEAPOLIS — FLW Outdoors announced today that Skeeter Boats will join the FLW Outdoors sponsorship lineup for the 2005 season, beginning in January. Skeeter will join an elite group of FLW Outdoors’ boat sponsors – including Ranger, Champion and Stratos – on all six tournament trails: Wal-Mart FLW Tour, EverStart Series, Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League, Wal-Mart RCL Walleye Tour, Wal-Mart RCL Walleye League and Wal-Mart Texas Tournament Trail. Skeeter, founded in 1948 by Holmes Thurmond, is no stranger to the fishing industry or the unmistakable passion anglers hold for their sport. Skeeter Boats has the opportunity to market to the 52 million-plus Americans who fish each year through its sponsorship of FLW Outdoors’ 175 bass and walleye tournaments. “Skeeter’s goal is to continue building brand recognition among anglers, and one of the best markets for that is tournament fishing,” said Jeff Stone, general manager and senior vice president of Skeeter Boats. “We are proud to continue our support of competitive bass fishing and walleye fishing and are excited to work with FLW Outdoors in the years ahead.” Skeeter boat owners will gain numerous benefits through the company’s sponsorship agreement with FLW Outdoors, including priority entry into all FLW Outdoors bass tournaments and the availability of a Skeeter service truck at many of the tournament takeoff locations. The Skeeter brand will also establish a presence in various FLW Outdoors marketing and promotional materials, through on-site signage at tournament locations, and at FLWOutdoors.com. Skeeter-sponsored anglers have long been high-profile competitors on various FLW Outdoors tournament trails. In fact, Team Skeeter pro Dean Rojas of Grand Saline, Texas, has had two top-10 finishes on the 2004 FLW Tour. He finished seventh on Lake Okeechobee and sixth on Atchafalaya Basin. Skeeter pro Alton Jones of Waco, Texas, also had a top-10 finish on the tour this year when he placed ninth at Kentucky Lake. “Skeeter Boats is set to help FLW Outdoors enhance competitive fishing and continue to grow the professional side of the sport,” said Irwin Jacobs, chairman of FLW Outdoors. “FLW Outdoors looks forward to working with Skeeter to continue bringing our high-profile tournaments to the next level.” Located in Kilgore, Texas, Skeeter Boats is owned by Yamaha, which is headquartered in Kennesaw, Ga. Yamaha is also an outboard-motor co-sponsor of many other leading freshwater tournaments including the FLW Tour, the EverStart Series, the Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League, the Wal-Mart Texas Tournament Trail, the Wal-Mart RCL Walleye Tour and the Wal-Mart RCL Walleye League. Member Posts: 714 | I've heard rumors that after next season, the RCL won't exsist anymore, and the RCL will be replaced with the FLW Walleye Tour, which will be open to all different boat brands. Also heard that ESPN is buying the PWT. Think about it,....ESPN airs all the FLW Bass tournaments, they buy out the PWT, RCL is not going to be the same after next year, ....Could there be a big merger in a year or two with the result being a single pro walleye curcuit with 10-12 stops a year with big payouts, all on TV thanks to ESPN? Also found out that the new VEC technology that Ranger is going to use to make their boats has one very fatal flaw to it that most die hard Ranger buyers will have to get used to... they can not make metal flake "glitter" boats with that technology and when they start using it they will only be available in solid colors!! ![]() Edited by JLDII 7/3/2004 7:06 PM

Member Posts: 714 | Nice to be able to drop in. I came home last night and pre-fished today and tomarrow here at home for a couple guide trips I have Monday, and Tuesday, then I'm back at Mille Lacs for a trip Wed., after that I have 2 days to pre-fish for a tournament at Mille Lacs this weekend. I have a couple days off next week, so I think I might run over to Leech Lake and do some fishing, for FUN!! ![]() Edited by JLDII 7/3/2004 8:36 PM

Member Posts: 389 | Jack, Jack, Jack.....sigh.... You really need to get all your facts straight before posting such nonsense.... Your biggest "oops" here is that you said ESPN airs FLW bass events, and that is incorrect. ESPN does NOT air the FLW bass event. The Outdoor Life channel does. ESPN owns/airs BASS, the other big pro/am bass circuit. According to Charlie Moore's post on "The Next Bite", the PWT has not been in negotiations with ESPN or BASS, and is alive and well. You really need to stop spreading rumors and posting them like they're facts. It doesn't do anything for your credibility. The RCL (in whatever name it becomes), with the changes it has for the future, will be around for a long long time, so get used to it. Have a great day! Juls

Member Posts: 714 | Juls, I understand your point and agree with you. Please re-read my post, I qualified it by saying that..... "I have heard rumors". I have no way of knowing if they are true or not, nor do I really care. By sharing with others what I have heard, people such as yourself, and others, can speak up and either agree, or dispell what I have been hearing. By the way, the thing about ESPN and the PWT, came from a mutual friend of ours that is currently practicing for the "Outdoor Games" in Wisconsin. He told me that 3 days ago.
