Member Posts: 183 Location: Menasha, Wis. | I fished in that area on Sunday 7/11/04. The algae was not bad at all, but some large patches where starting to show up. With the warmer weather and sunshine, it proably won't stay that way. Three of us fished and caught close to 25 walleyes - lots of small stuff. Best baits where deep thundersticks. Happy fishing to all ![]()

Yesterday it was terrible, dragging boards was impossible.

Location: WI | Thanks, Thursday 7-1 Purple prizm DJ took some big fish.A white Glass rap also put fish in the boat. Boards seemed to be a must. Edited by Utts 7/13/2004 12:31 PM

Green slime is ok.:-) In the early seventies I remember trolling through patches 3 inches thick that had turned white with rot and prompted a gag reflex.

I was out of Calumet harbor on 07/17 and algae was so bad lures and line where full of it. How long does the green stuff last and how do you cope with it. : (

Buy the largest barrel swivels you can find and tie them into your line 2-3 feet above your bait. If it gets so bad that doesn't stop it, anchor and use slip bobbers. The bobbers will drift along with the goo and give a decent presentation. Edited by Rick Larson 7/18/2004 9:17 PM

Thanks for the info. Was up there today and it wasn't nearly as bad as last weekend. We caught 2 walleye. When should I expect this green goo to go away?
