Location: Chicago IL. | I hired a guide to go out fishing in the gulf. We didnt go out the last 2 days because it was to cold. Do you belive this!!!!!! 60 degs durring the day and its to cold. I told him to forget it. I called other guys but there booked up. Not turning out to be a good trip so far. Taking the wife out to do the wifey things today. Cant wait to do some walleye fishing again. 60 degs and we are in shorts putting sunscreen on.

Got you beat by 2 degrees. Launched on the Tittabawassee one morning with the Michigan Outdoors camera crew when it was 6 degrees. That 35 MPH run upstream to the dam was one we will all remember. But I'm thinking not fondly.  
Hell, I'm still in a T-shirt until it reaches 50 degrees. John, did the guide mean that it was to cold to catch any fish, or just to cold for him to stand? |

Location: Loves Park, IL now Mt. View Ar. | John,To make you home sick, There calling for high temps close to 50 by the end of the week here. Going to try the IL river if the ramps are opened and not iced in were I can't brake through. Send a report when you get on the water.

Red Wing Minnesota two years ago over the News Year day weekend. When we woke up it was 20 degrees BELOW zero. We had to wait until about 10 am for it to warm up to a blistering ZERO. We caught over 100 walleye and sauger that day. The biggest problem was going through 4 pairs of gloves because they would freeze up after taking fish off the hook.
For those who do not know. the Mississippi river is in Red Wing and there is a nuclear plant above the dam that keeps the river open all year long. We stay at Everett’s Resort and the manager does a great job breaking up any ice that develops along shore during the evenings.

Thats a man very serious about keeping his business guests happy. I wish nothing but the best luck for guys with that much ambition and business sense.

I know how dumb I felt launching at 8 degrees... If I had waited till it warmed up to "ZERO"... I think I would have really felt dumb... until I started catching fish like that... Anytime you want to meet up there and do it again I'll join you... Just don't ask me to fish through a little hole in the water when I can stand on it... LOL |

| Hey Dennis you aren't the only one that was CRAZY & DUMB enough to do that my friend. Back when I was younger and dumber we used to go fish below the dam at Guttenburg - L.& D. # 10. Many a days we were doing the same thing. But we'd have to push the boat off the edge of the ice, which was at times up to a 100 + feet from shore. We'd catch fish and just throw them in the front of the jon boat. The would wiggle for about 5 seconds and then they were froze to the bottom of the boat. At the end of the day we would just give them a little kick and they'd pop loose. Take em home and put em in an old bath tup in the basement and in the morning they were thawed enough to clean. Ahh the stupid stories I could tell. Hutch
