I fish my local pro curcit and did really well in it last year. I was wondering what all you tounrament fisherman do for a living. Right now I work in a tackle shop and I really like doing that but I don't make enough money to start travelling to the states to fish since I live in Ontario Canada. I really like construction and I know a some pwt pros are construction workers. And maybe there is a career out there that I didn't think of yet. So I am just curious what your carreers are.

Also, I guide the Milwaukee and Menomonee rivers for trout and salmon. But guiding has taken a backseat as of late to spring and fall Musky tourny's and my lake home in northern Wisconsin.

Member Posts: 88 Location: Oklahoma | Hi, Matt. I am a self-employed fishing lure manufacturer. (I too, like construction) I am fortunate to be doing something that I really enjoy, but I put many years of hard work into some jobs that were not a "career", but just earned my a living. It took me many years to "find" my way to what I do now, and a little good fortune, too! Good luck on your mission to fish the PWT! Maybe we will meet someday! Keep focused and try to work toward a career in a field that you really enjoy!

Member Posts: 363 Location: Kaukauna WI | I spent allot of years in the United States Navy Submarine Force as Sonar Technician. Here is an ideal look at military as a reservist or full time for few years by working as a reservist you can get valuable education in world of electronics or in field you choose. One benefit I can say I loved is I have fished all over the world and in all types of water. Or follow the foot steps of allot men and woman do it for 20 years and retire at 40 (you say your 20 now) you have a full income to fish as many days as you wish and a profession you can do for wintertime and Medical benefits for you and your family for life. I am not sure on Canada Military but in US we also got 30 days leave in witch you could fish sooner then 5 years on one side of PWT if you wish. While looking at long range plan for what you wish to do and accomplish this can be a option. You be shocked on how many guys will say to me I wish I stayed in I was 18 and now be retired with a pension at 38 with medical benifits. Military is not for every one but it provided Ann, my kids and me a way to enjoy life.
