Who makes the best beads to use for spinner crawler rigs? Have tried several different companies and they all seem to nick up the line. Some worse then others. Or is there a good line that resists all the nicks. Have tried different brands of line with same results NICKS.

Brd- I buy all my beads from a fabric shop. I've never really had any problems with them nicking up the line. I use both faceted and round beads. Plus you can get them very cheap at these types of places. I use 10lb flourocarbon for my leaders and seems to work well.

I buy all my beads from craft shops. I get about 1000 for $2. I have never had problems with lines being nicked from beads. I use either Vanish or Deaguar in 20 lb fluorocarbon for all my spinners.

Jerry is right. Craft stores such as Michaels and Hobby Lobby carry almost every color, size and style bead under the sun. I have found some neat styles and colors I have never seen before like holographic beads and odd shaped beads that all work well. 17-20lb. Flourocarbon like Vanish or Seaguar are my choices of line especially with glass beads which have a tendency to wear away the line quicker than the plastic beads. The added abrasion resistance of the flouro helps eliminate the wear, plus the invisibility factor under water is a plus especially in super clear or high pressured waters. My wife gets a kick out of me shopping in craft stores and taking the time in the bead aisle to find new and interesting beads to experiment with. I do get some looks from the older crafter ladies when I am scoping out the aisle like "what the heck is he doing with all those beads"!!-especially when I have a basket full of the things. You will save a bunch of money buying them in bulk from the craft stores compared to tackle retailers. And the assortment available gives you the chance to experiment with colors, finish, style, and size so you can have a totally unique rig that catches fish that nobody else has! Now only if these stores sold blades, then you could make some really unique rigs! Speaking of unique rig, a fishing buddy of mine bought some alphabet beads and spelled out "BITEME" on a spinner rig....It worked! Good Luck and have fun

Thanks for the reply guys. The only thing that i didn't try is the flourocarbon line yet. Will have to give it a good test this year. And I know what you mean about going to the craft stores and getting funny looks from all the women when there, that is why I try to get my wife to go along. Eyefever, will have to try to get together at the touraments this year.

I agree with the above posts, I did some "recon" at both Hobby Lobby and Michaels about 2 weeks back. Whatever you want, in whatever size and color, plastic or glass can be found at these shops. AND, you can buy bulk assortments in the event your not certain which specific colors you want to load up on. The beads in the 2 stores near my home, are right next to the oil paints,,,,,,,perfect.
