All the so called local media experts are gonna eat some crow tommorow here in the Twin cities!

Randy Moss has been traded to the Raiders for LB N. Harris and a 1st and 7th round pick!
I'm shocked thats all they got and I'm also sure that was more than most teams were willing to give! He was a cancer here but will fit in with the Raiders well because that team is full of misfits. I not a Vikes fan but they are going to have some folks crying tonight! I bet they make a ton of free agent moves to try to get the "D" fixed, but there are alot of other teams with good cap room!

First off, the trade will not be official till March 2nd. Reggie Fowler may have something to say about wheather or not it will be allowed to go thru. He might say that he wants Randy, or no deal for the team. As a fan, if I had to choose between keeping Red, or Randy, I'd keep Randy, and boot Red as far from the state of Minnesota as I could!!

Second, the TENTATIVE trade is for LB Napolean Harris, a first round pick(which is the 7th pick in the draft) and another draft pick to be named. I'm of the opinion that that is not very good considering that the Vikings will still be responsible for a large chunk of that salary on their cap for the upcoming season.

I know Randy is not the most popular player we have ever discussed on this board, but in the end, he is the most talented reciever we have ever discussed at any time in the history of the league. Too bad his attitude has turned so many people's perceptions away that fact.

Most talented? I personally feel you could put a lot of people in front of this guy even without incorporating his attitude into your decision.

Ever heard of Jerry Rice?

Randy Moss does not have the numbers to be even close to the elite that have played this game and shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence.

Sorry Dave, but you are wrong!

Moss's numbers for the first 7 years of his career are better than Jerry Rice's first 7, by far. In 7 years, he is second to only Chris Carter in all Viking's recieving catagories. In 7 years he has scored 90 TD's. Since 1999 he has scored more TD's than any other player in the league except Marshal Faulk, and has had more impact on any division in the league since his arrival. Every single team in the Central, now Northern, Division had to change their defenses, draft differently, and everything else just because they had to play against this ONE player.

Former Green Bay GM Ron Wolf, in a written interview said that the reason he passed over Moss in the draft back then was because of his concern with his attitude. He went on then to say, that in hind sight, it was a big mistake to pass him over, and that it would have been worth living with those problems considering how much that player could change the outcome of any game.

He closed his interveiw saying, "5 hours east of Minneapolis there is a big sigh of relief being let out right now!"

If Randy's career lasts as long as Jerry Rice's, he will most likely be the most prolific reciever to ever play the game.

I'm not wrong. At this point it is a matter of opinion. A player's career is not based on 7 years of performance. Randy Moss is injury prone. Jerry Rice was not. I think you know that without going into his ailments. Randy still has a lot to prove to be categorized with the elite.

"If Randy's career lasts as long as Jerry Rice's, he will most likely be the most prolific reciever to ever play the game." The if is an awful big one. Lets wait and see on that. Until then, he will be behind Jerry in catches, touchdowns, yardage, and a host of other categories.

I think to judge who is the best it is important to look at what the individual has done for the bettering of their team. Jerry Rice helped SF to 3 super bowl wins. The Vikings seem to think they are at the top of the mountain when they beat the Packers. It takes more than that to make a dynasty. The Vikings have made the NFC championship game twice, and lost. It could be argued that he really hasn't accomplished much of anything for the team other than bring them down with his attitude. They certainly aren't winning championships. I guess if he was as valuable to the team as some think, he wouldn't be on the trading block. SF surely wouldn't have traded Jerry Rice in his prime.

So, off to the left coast he goes to join a 5-11 team. I think its great. At least he won't be wiping his butt on goal posts around here much anymore.

Only time will tell.

As it is now, Moss has played about one third as long as Rice, but in several catagories, he is about half way to the record that Rice holds.

I do know this though. If Randy didn't have an attitude, there is not a single football fan in this country that would not want him on their team, because he is that GOOD!

This is a much different game these days! When Rice was putting up the numbers he did it was against BETTER corners that could play physical! Today if a guy puts his hands on a receiver the flags are flying! I like the OLD game better, but this is about scoring now and marketing! Moss will NEVER be what Rice was!!!!!! Moss won't go over the middle, Moss won't take a hit (he falls down after the catch), Moss is about Moss! Rice never got into it with the coaches or his QB, Rice never tryed to degrade an offical, Rice is one of the most respected players to ever play the game! On the other hand Moss has no where near the respect.
Moss can go deep and he can catch 9 TD passes this year from inside the 5 yard line, while other teams pound the ball in the Vikes throw to make Moss and Dante happy! Until Moss shuts his mouth and plays the game the way the best do he is just another big time talent that wasted his career doing stupid things. In the end Moss only cares whats best for Moss the TEAM is second to him!

He does have an attitude though.

And even if he did have a good attitude, he still does not have the numbers or ability or super bowl rings that Jerry Rice does and did.

I thought I heard here in Chi-town on ESPN Radio today that the Vikings score more when Moss is out of the game. I think a trade is a good deal. And he goes outside the Division and the Conference, can't hurt the Vikes too bad under those circumstances.

FACT- Moss is NOT gone. If Fowler buys the team before Mar. 2, he will not trade Moss. This is a ploy by McCombs to excellerate the sale of the team. It will work. Sorry- Moss will remain the Packers biggest nightmare!!!!!!!

I hope you are right!!

I love the way Packer fans get all uptight, and uneasy every time they play against him.

I don't think so! The sale is in the owners hands now, they are reveiwing the buyers group and monies! This is a done deal count on it! March 5 the deal will be closed on the sale of the Vikes and Moss will be long gone! Mark my words!

I've never gotten uptight when the Pack plays the ViQueens because of Moss. The dome curse has been just that. A curse, that appears to be mostly gone of late. I was always looking for Moss to play, pout, and then quit on them when he took a big hit from Butler or Sharper. Problem the last 2 years, is Butler retired, and Sharper is ready to.

Some people are sure feeling more relaxed now that Moss is out of their division!

The Vikes now have three middle linebackers, EJ Henderson is just as good as Harris and the other young kid is decent. You are rolling the dice with any first round pick especially receiver, except for Moss most WR don't excel until year 3. It just kills me that all the Vikes fans jump off the bandwagon and think the trade is good.

Why do you think they will draft "O" when they need some sort of a "D"?

They have cap room, bring in the Wideouts! Some good talent is free for the signing right now!

I bet they draft D-backs and Linebackers 1st then a rushing end. Just like the Pack needs!

Hey Perchie,

I DO NOT like the trade at all!! Moss might have been a problem for us to deal with, but he was a much bigger problem for every defense in the league to deal with.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Harris fails his physical, and the deal gets voided. Knee injuries are not a good thing for any player, especially a linebacker.

Jack- I was referring to people writing in to the St Paul Pioneer Press not you. Obviously whatever the Vikes do, as a Packer fan, getting rid of Moss is always a good day for me. Someday sooner than later #4 will retire and we will be in a similar situation.

No perchie, it won't be the same.

You can be proud of everything Brett has done, I can't say the same about Randy.
