it goes to show one must flip a coin and hope for the best. the hot bites dont last long. it seems that there was a change in the flows that turned them on to the south one day and up stream the next.dont you love river fishing.you gotta keep track of the flow rates and go with the rise or the stable pool,a dropping river is very tough to be consistant on. i think that the fish move looking for deeper water on the drop and are less aggressive. but when its riseing or stable they hang around and look for food and dont have to leave .

Not to discredit the team who landed that fish at all, but they were both convinced it was a Sauger...

I would think Saugeye as well, but none of us saw it...

Too bad if it was a Sauger though...the record would have been shattered...

I was in the same flight as John and Ottawa was tough on Sunday...We blanked on Sunday after a decent Saturday in the Starved Rock pool...Oh well, that's fishing...

If it was a sauger it is an Illinois record but almost a pound short of the world record from what I can see. Is this an iside joke??? Are you guys just trying to give me a heart attack? I am already shaking uncontrollably and this is not helping.

I know the guys that got the fish. They are great river boys and if they say it was a sauger,it was. He didnt know it would have been a state record.

That'll work! Wait for the MWC weekend, and maybe Zach can shoot the picture.
