Just a reminder that the Fox River Spring Walleye Classic will be held Saturday, May 14. We had a record turnout last year and expect to have anywhere from 45-60 teams this year. The entry fee is set at $110 plus an additional $10 if you want to be included in the big fish pot. This is a great tournament with a long history of bringing walleye fisherman together for a great day of fishing on the Lower Bay of Green Bay and the Fox River. For additional information contact Karl Plog (920 336-9860) or Randy Blasczyk (920 662-1867).

If all goes good I am throwing my hat in the ring for this one.

Sounds like it will be a good time.

Who else is coming out to play?

This is a fun tournament with some great competitors in it. My wife Candy and I will be competing. My partner Pat Schuette and his wife Paula are the defending champions and will also be competing. It is run out of Stan and Ollie's Boathouse. Hope to see some WFer's there!!!

If you're not working still!

I would love to fish this tourney, but I have a prior commitment to prefish GB for the FLW Tour event the following week.

Stan & Ollies is a bar/restaurant located on the Fox River in downtown Green Bay just north of the Mason Street Bridge. They have a beer garden facing the river and excellent food. This year the back area of the bar will be open so we can use the restrooms. The owner will also have some sandwiches available to take out on the boat for lunch. For those new to the tournament, please remember that their are limits on the water that can be fished. Basically the two bays directly to the east and west of the mouth of the river (draw a line from Longtail Point to Point Sable) are fair game up to the Depere Dam (see entry form). As of today, there are 40+ teams signed up. We expect 50 to 60 teams total.

How long will the no wake area take to get through to the Boathouse?

I believe it takes approximately 15 minutes from the mouth of the river and maybe a little less if you are coming from the Depere landings. We typically hold the rules meeting as early as possible so we can get out fishing. Give yourself a little extra time. Karl and I will be ready to register teams by 5:15. As of this past weekend, 48 teams were entered.
