Looking for help at all the sites. Shot in the dark with this one guys. I recently bought a '95 Smokercraft with a '95 Merc 2 stroke. The thing has been great since the first time in the water this spring. Started great, ran great and no concerns. Then this past Sat., heading out with the family to swim and fish a bit. Dropped it in at the landing looking forward to getting on the water. Pump the bulb, turn the key and she won't turn over. Crank and crank and crank and still nothing. Thinking I flooded it, try to entertain three impatient young daughters for a while and then try it again with the same results. I have not done anything but back it into the garage since the last time out. Any ideas at all on this?? I almost seems like the kill switch is disengaged but that was fine. Needle in a haystack here guys but thought it would be worth a try. I did try again with the muffs on a day later with the same result. Thanks for the help.

Member Posts: 701 Location: upper michigan | check the water seperator to see if it has water in it. If it does drain it out and give it a try. Edited by butch 8/15/2005 10:19 PM

Member Posts: 2445 Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | Doug, you will need to do a process of elimination. First check for spark. That will be easy and can help you to look in the correct area for your problem. It will be in your best interest to pull all the plugs out of the engine before checking for spark. if it should fire on 2 cylinders while you are checking the 3rd it will make a mess. Pull all plugs then hold each one with insulated pliers next to the hole where it came out of and see if there is spark when you roll the engine over. Have one of your daughters turn the key for you, they will think its cool. let us know what you find.

stacker, ended up bringing it in and found out that it is a faulty stator. That is going to take a bite out of the ole checkbook. How's the water in Fremont? Low as I've seen it here in New London... Thanks for the reply, Doug
