Hey guys! What exactly is involved in getting a guide license? Curiosity has got a hold of me. Any help would be appreciated. Might be a cool business to get into. Or maybe not. Let me know guides. Thanks in advance.

I used to guide quite a bit, and recently decided to get back in to the business. Just head over to your DNR regional office and pick up the application. If you intend to guide on ANY Great Lakes or USCG regulated waters, you will need a Captain's License, and entirely different animal.

Insurance isn't cheap, so you will need to figure on at least enough work to pay for your direct expenses of insurance, gear, and the necessary rig.

Thanks Steve. I was just kicking the idea around. I'll look into it a little deeper over the winter.
