Every year This is the sadest day. I take the wife and kids out fishing in the boat for the last time. We went out to a little local lake put the boat in and within minutes were on the gills. Just watching the kids and wife reel them in one after another, just stopping to help take one off or re-bait a hook. This is 4 of the best hours I have spent all year! I still will be out myself, just not with the family. The kids are already asking if we can go again tomorrow. "Sorry guys you have school" it just kills me to tell them that they won't have a chance to get out in the boat again this year. The only thing they can talk about was how many fish they caught and how much fun they had, heck the wife even had fun! I don't think there is anything better than watching the 4 year old reeling in bluegils with one of Dads $300 rods. "Hold on tight" "Keep the tip up" "Reel Reel" and "Nice one" were about the only things I said in between smiles. This is a sad day indeed, and next year we are going to do it twice as much as this year, this I promised the kids! Seems I always have somewhere to be on the weekends fishing . So next year I'm not doing that anymore, I'm going fishing with the kids. I will fish my tournaments only in the spring when the kids are still in school. The rest of the year is going to be more about them and getting them fishing!
Dad only did one thing wrong today he forgot the camera, other than that I'm a hero with the wife and kids! The boys were going through all my rods picking out the ones they want, event kids know good equipment. Oh well back to the ribs on the grill.
Hope everyone had a great Labor Day, or atleast as speical as mine!

We had a great holiday week, with the muskies cooperating a bit, at least. Theedz, Slamr, Tomyv, Crash McGolden, Sam, and Zach all visited the hideout. Theedz and I got a decent fish, Slamr popped his personal best and a 34. The grill was hot all weekend, Sue was in her glory feeding everyone, and the beer was cold. Keith sent us to a new Muskie lake X, which was very impressive and full of walleyes, too.

This signals the end of the summer for me, and the forward look to my favorite time of the year. Archery, Muskies, Walleyes, and first ice are on the way.

Looks like a ton of fun Steve! Glad to hear you guys had a great time. I have not Musky fished in years, but I want to get some in this fall. I'm going to try my darnest to catch one in Oct. on Mille Lacs. Mix in some fall night walleye fishing and some casting for the monsters during the day. I need to get more use this year out of my trailer, and can't think of a better time to do it. If you are going to be in the area give me a shout we can try to stick one of those famous hogs in all the pics, maybe a 55"er????
