Member Posts: 1382 | The weather was as tough as the bite today, but the anglers were focused and positive about the bite tomorrow. The FLW tent at the Moline Wal Mart was dry and warm, so the weigh in was smooth and quick. Scott Fairbairn (8th after day 1) told me he feels the river has reached the level it will after the rapid increase from the rain up north the last few days. Many of the spots Eric Olsen was prefising were unfishable today because of weeds floating and the fact a couple had been totally wiped out from the increasing water flow. Some of the wing dams he had prefished were still productive, with a 'willow cat' bite mentioned by more than one Pro. Weather looks to stabilize under a dome of high pressure tomorrow after a nasty wind/rain mix today. Temps are to be in the 60's tomorrow, and up the near 74 by Friday's weigh in. Tomorrow's morning opening ceremonies weather is to be 41 degrees and 10 mph NW winds. 64 degrees is supposed to be the high temps, after a night in the 40's with 30 mph wind gusts. The front rolled through at the best time possible! . Watch WalleyeFIRST tomorrow morning for a report on the day two opening ceremonies.
