| A question for all. New rig is on the way and the tarp options they "Lund" has aren't what I'm looking for. I'm hunting for something in the line of a full tarp with built in straps. I expect to PAY out the ??? for it, but want top of the line. I'm in Prairie du Chien WI. Southwestern corner of the state and really don't want to drive more than a couple hours or so to get it fitted. Anyone out there got any good suggestions. Hutch |

Location: Neenah, WI | Hutch, I don't know how much you travel but I put a lot of miles on and have a snap cover on my Crestliner. It stays tight and works well for me. Straps might cause some harm to the finish at highway speeds. |

| I had a cover made for my Lund at Kustom Faberkin in Fond du Lac, WI. They did a great job, and it was only $450. |

I got a custom made cover for my Pro v tiller at Canseal canvas in Ceder Falls Ia. The cover was made in 2000 and still looks great after many miles. They use a material called top gun it will breathe from the inside out and still be waterproof. I have a tie down type cover and it works great, they can make either snaps or tie down. The cover is all custom fitted to the trolling motors,windshields and motors. Canseal canvas has thirty two years of sewing custom boat covers, they make professional top of the line custom covers that last for years. You can call them at 319 268 1320.

| Hey guys, THANKS for the all the info. Now I gotta a couple 3 more nunbers and another site too look at before making a move. Good point on the straps Dale, I didn't think of that aspect on a tarp of that style. Hutch |

| Hutch... I expect you know Lund has two options for covering the boat.
Cockpit Cover and/ or Mooring Cover.
The cockpit cover works better for traveling, because the paint doesn't get beat up.
The mooring cover has been used by many for years... and they travel with them, but they rub the paint in doing so.
Any cover that comes down over the sides of a boat will rub the sides, unless you can keep it from moving when under way.

| Thanks Mr. Palmer, I'll try to catch it but will probably miss it so I will go to the site and have a look-see. T-Mac, yea I knew that they have 2 options. The old Lund had the mooring cover and because I used every strap hook they had plus added about 8 more I didin't have a paint wear problem. Ya coulda bounced a quater a 100 feet off the tarp. But it was such a pain-in-da-boot to deal with. The cockpit is a nice one but I want my motors protected as well. The snap style on the outside of the gunnels doesn't trip my trigger to much becasue of all the docking issues we have here on the Miss. river. I picture one that has 4 or 5 straps that go to the trailor on each side and then has a strap that goes all the way around the boat cover on the bottom that can be tighten securely in the back by the motors to prevent paint issues. But then again I've always been a BIG DREAMER. But I do thank everyone for their time in replying. Hutch

We have found that if a person uses a boat cover with motor cover built into it it really rubs the motors and takes the paint of them. The motor moves more, and different than the boat. You are better off with individual engine covers ...plus what i said in my first reponse.
We (and Ranger, and Lund) all learned this stuff the hard way.
Montana (where I am a dealer) is really a tough proving ground for lessons learned while towing boats. Our customers (and me) tow further, on poorer roads (much gravel), in heavier winds, and at faster speeds than the "civilized" world does.  |

| Custom fit snap on cover is the only way to go. Easy on. Easy off. No paint wear issues. Secure at highway speeds. Snaps can essentially be "hidden" on the underside of the gunnel ledge. No docking issues. No catching snaps with your line. Fool proof. My alumacraft strap cover lasted one season. Custom fit snap cover is going on season number 6 with no issues. Cost was near $450 on a 17 footer. Lifetime of free repair if needed. Fox Valley Canvas, Neenah WI. |

| Hutch, we had cover made, just like you want. Complete coverage, motor, everything. I think there's 4 tie downs on each side. the motor is covered, and 4 snaps on each side of the motor. The boat is completely covered. Maybe I'm lucky, but never had trouble with rubbing the paint. I was told, a cover with snaps, would give more trouble than the tie downs. We have an Alumicraft SC165. If you keep the ties tight, you shouldn't have trouble.IMO. It was made in Knoxville Iowa. To far for you, but it can be done. Good luck Doug |

Try FLYNNS CUSTON BOAT COVERTS PLUS up in La Crosse. He makes costum snap on covers and they work extremely well. Cost. $350-$450 depending on windshields.
I am getting one made for my new crestliner dual council and my dad has one on his and loves it. T-Mac is right about putting a cover over the motor. No real way to get that cover snug over the shroud so it tends to rub. My dad had one on his cover but then went back to Flynns and had it removed.
