| The Illinois Walleye Trail converged on the City of Spring Valley, Illinois for its Fifth Tournament of the 2006 season. Teams found the weather stable with mid 60's air temp, clear skies and river conditions with a foot clarity, but still a little high from recent rains, and water temps in the 50's. The Saugers are now in various stages of the annual spawn, with some spawned out and others spawning. The team of Randy Carroll and Lee Scott from Oswego, Illinois won the tournament with a 6 fish limit of 14.66 pounds earning them $1,465.00. Randy and Lee found the fish to be more aggressive using Lead Core and Crankbaits upsteam from Spring Valley. 2nd place honors went to Jim Schneider and Kevin Kearney from Batavia with 13.61 pounds earning them $760.00 along with the $100.00 Gift certificate compliments of Hennepin Marine as the first Lund boat placing in the money. John Dalzot, Spring Valley and Tom Giachetto Jr. Ladd, Illinois finished third with 13.33 pounds cashing a check for $490.00. This years tournament saw several Walleyes coming to the scale with big fish honors going to Adam Sandor and Paul Durdan from Ottawa with a 4.46 pound Walleye worth $635.00.
