Member Posts: 1382 | Crestliner/Mercury Pro Bruce Samson has 5 pounds of leeches onboard. He's ready. We have some wind today which Bruce is happy with. The rain and early strorms this morning didn't seem to be any problem at all. Watch for a WalleyeFIRST video interview with Mr. Samson later this morning. Tracker/Mercury Pro Daryl Christensen has his spoons tied up. He's casting spoons and controlled drift 'hopping' them back to the boat, and is a bit concerned about getting a solid hook set in the increased winds later today. He said he may go to braided line if he starts to have trouble getting his fish pinned up. Daryl told WalleyeFIRST this morning he and 'Doc' Samson are in a dead heat going into the day, and unless they both totally bomb it's between them for first and second. He is confident, has plenty of room, and is fishing much shallower than the rest of the field, so anyone entering the area he's fishing isn't likely to get too close. Yesterday, he filled out his limit working sand breaks and fished most of the day in 8 to 13'. For awhile on day one, he even trolled cranks along the breaks looking for an upgrade. The weather looks like occasional showers and storms, with some clearing in between. Warm temps and windy conditions are the rule. This is going to be a shootout. Member Posts: 1382 | There's been a storm front on the horizon for a while now, I'm hoping that it holds off until the weigh in is done. The weather map looks good with all the bad stuff north and south of Otter Tail if no more storms pop up in the next few hours. Winds are brisk and skies are partly sunny. The weigh in will begin at about 5:20 or so if the schedule holds as yesterday's did. | ||
