Spiderwire in it's several forms are superlines, and are synthetic no stretch lines. I use the Fusion quite a bit for casting cranks. The Spiderline monofilament is exactly what you said, and fancy monofilament line. Good stuff, though.

To elaborate further on what Sworall has said: the "Spiderwire" brand of superbraids is exactly what he said... no stretch... so it is used by some primarily as a trolling line. I use it exclusively on all my rods (casting, trolling, jigging, etc). Its abrasion, UV & wear resistant; can also out last mono 2-1. Its not as sensitive as mono is in some instances (when jigging for soft biting eyes for example). But giviven its strength & durability; its a sacrifice I'm willing to make (VERY cost effective line to use).

I use "Fireline" for trolling a little deeper and a little different action on the lure sometimes. It takes some getting use to, as there is no give and you will lose fish if you dont make adjustments.

I politelty disagree with this statement. I use Power Pro (a super line like Spider) because it is more sensitive while jigging for soft bites.

Here is a good fairly unbiased web site to learn about different lines: http://tackletour.com/menulines.html
