Member Posts: 6 | It is true, charlie evans and Sonny are considering switching the pro-am format to a team format for next year. I am a very big supporter of the pro-am format and believe that switching it to a team format will hurt and turn away alot of great fishermen and woman from the sport and damage the league they have worked hard to build. Regardless whether you are against or support the format change everyone must let the flw know what you think!!!! YOU CAN E-MAIL THE OWNER (CHARLIE EVANS) AT [email protected] and SONNY REYNOLDS AT [email protected] I would like to see them keep the pro-am format but make some minor changes to it. One would be to change the payouts from a winner-take-all at the end of the year (look at the payout bracket for individual and champion tournament.) and put more money toward each individual tournament. most times the pros will spend far more money to fish these tourneys than they can make winning one tourney. I would like to see them raise entry fee's for both the am's and the pros to increase the payouts. If you double the entry to $150 and $300 you are still a lot cheaper than the FLW tour and PWT but have just doubled the payouts. These are just some of my ideas and thaughts; like them or hate them, we all must let the flw know what we think. After talking to sonny at the championships I get the impression that the change will happen unless we say something. THANKS! DIETER

Member Posts: 84 Location: townsend,wi | I'd like to see a team format with a 2000.00 entry fee,and 4 tournaments,a champioship with 50 teams. teams would be notified when each tourney is,but not were until 2 weeks before tourney. :)

I thought the FLW league was not for the pro fisherman but was for the weekend angler. thats how it was promoted when it started. Has this changed?

Member Posts: 389 | No, that has not changed. Because of the format, some people are referring to the "Boater" as the "Pro"...that's all. Juls

Member Posts: 859 Location: Appleton wi | Yes there are defintly some who I would consider pro's and many you could call semi -pro's. There are some who fish the pwt,flw tour, mwc ,merc nationals and many other fine tourny's . There are many who fish it that are new in tourny's that own a boat and are good fisherman and this tourny has given them a chance to fish with all the anglers i mentioned above. There are poeple who dont own a boat and but love to fish and wanted a chance to see what it is all about as a co angler. As far as having a tourny and not telling the participants until 2 weeks prior to the tourny that would never work. There are dnr permitts , brochures to be printed, advertisement, reservations and and poeple need to plan there summer with there family and work.

Member Posts: 3899 | I say keep the same format, ie. Boater/Co-angler, for the Leaque. This is a great format, and allows those with no boat or tourney experience to get their feet wet. Also, allows a person to become familiar with waters they don't know or fish well. A great series for the boater who is looking to gain experience before moving up to the Tour Events. I don't believe we need another team series. We have the MWC, and the MWS in WI, and I know there are team events in MI and MN. Not sure why you would want the entry fees set at $2000? What kind of payout are you looking for. MWC has a pretty good payout, and the entry fee is $600? I think it's crazy for a competitor to ask to increase the entry fee. I think the bigger payouts will come through series sponsors, not the entry fees. Keep the entry fees reasonable, and you'll get bigger fields, and attract better sponsorship, and be able to offer bigger payouts. Let the entry fees pay for the logistics of the events, and let the payouts come from the sponsors. That is the way it will have to be.

Member Posts: 389 | question - 9/15/2006 7:44 AM thanks So pros dont fish in it? Yes, the Pros sometimes do. It's a fun circuit, and can be tough competition due to the fact that it is usually loaded with local water talent. Juls
