| after rigging, i went out on the water and got the motor most of the way broke in today.
after teasing me for the first hour at 3/4 throttle or less, i could finally let her stretch her legs a bit and she did not disappoint.
hit 55mph on the GPS and i coulda pushed it some more. there's a lotta power in that Opti! you put the throttle down and it kinda takes a breath, than roars and launches you down the lake. does that match what you guys run for speed?
the one thing that made me nervous was my rpm gauge was off the charts - buried the needle (over 8000) going only 40mph at about 3/4 throttle. i assume it was a gauge issue, since if the prop was really spinning that fast the boat wouldn't have performed properly like it did: jumps on plane and plenty of top end.
in neutral it was showing 2000, and with the motor just in gear it would show 3000.
sounds like the whole thing is reading high?
that seem right to think it's a gauge issue? |

| Gauge is set wrong, I turn 5600 with a rev4 21, typically there is a setting switch on the back, what to set it to? Some one will chime in.
Nice looking boat.
What color is that?

| it's purple haze with a silver stripe.
it's got a Merc Tempest 21 prop.
there is a switch on the back of the rpm gauge. it says:
"set switch to match engine alternator."
"# poles / setting: 4=1, 6=2, 8=3, 10=4, 12=5"
it's currently set to 4/1.
i can't find anything in the installation manual or the motor manual that speaks to it.
since this motor is a V-6, should it be set to 6/2???
what is other people's set to who are running a 200 Opti?
thanks!

| What you are looking for is a small inset dial on the back of the gauge that needs to be turned with a flathead screwdriver. I am guessing you will want to set it to 5 or 6. |
