When you are looking at purchasing a boat...new or used, what options do you look for out of the following:

full glass windshield vs. single/double console

no kicker/kicker (hydraulic or manual)

Vince, it doesn't matter what anybody else looks for in a boat. You have to match your needs with the boat. Get in a variety of boats and see how you like them. Match the boat with your needs, ie; will I need it for big waters that can turn ugly at the drop of a hat, or will I be fishing mostly smaller lakes and rivers. Do I troll a lot or do I prefer to jig or cast. Will I be running planer boards or something else. Will I be fishing tournaments or just fish for fun. You and only you can make up your mind with what type of boat will you get. Others opinions may not match what you do or what you are looking for. If you are interested in a test ride, just ask on this board or go to a dealers demo days and get out there in one and try it. Happy boat hunting.

I am looking at getting on a team boat and selling it after a specified time. I have already picked out the options I want/need and am looking on input for the others that I could go either way on. Thanks!

Because I fish big water most of the time (Green Bay, Lake Erie, Devils Lake, Bay De Noc, etc) I chose to go with a full windshield. They are a blessing when you have to travel crossways into waves and they allow for a place to hide when it rains. I always Rain-X my windshields so I can see if it rains hard.

As for kickers, they are a must. You can try a manual support bracket suck as Y-Not Technology's Bracket Pro but you'll be pleased with the extra money spent on a auxiliary lift like a Panther lift or choosing a kicker like Yamaha's T-8 or Mercury's Pro Kicker. I've used both and they are worth their weight in gold. I also used a Bracket Pro and it worked great, but I prefer the ease of operation of the lift.

I have been considering a full windshield for a couple years. That said, I just couldn't pul the trigger on one, and got a dual console this year.

Kicker yes. Power tilt, yes. The Bracket Pro is no longer marketed, I have been told. Probably due to all the ProKickers and T8's that are now sold.

You could also consider an Engine Mount electric. These things work great for pulling harnesses.

Sorry Vince! I wasn't trying to be sarcastic. Even after all the pros and cons are heard, you will still need to choose what you feel will work best for you. I have a Dual Console and am pleased with it. However, as Jerry mentioned, in the driving rain or rough conditions the full windshield would be nice. I also prefer a kicker motor with power tilt.

VINCE,

Do you think that you can just go to any boat company and get a "TEAM BOAT".?

There's alot more to it than just getting the boat, when I got my team/pro staff boat I had to send a resume and reference sheet. Maybe they do it different where your from . I'm not tryig to be cruel here just wondering how it work's for you.?

Good luck in your ventures and test run all the boats your looking at before you buy.

Vince is certainly qualified to make it on a promotional team or two...

I will tell you Shep, I was totally against windshields until Mark got one on his Skeeter. Now my buddy Chris has one on the Triton I have been using this year and I can say I will never own another boat without one. There is soooooo many positives without ANY negatives.

There is one negative for a full windshield for me. There is a specific area on a lake that I move through (tunnel) where a full windshield would be in jeopardy of breaking.

I have been approached by 3 different boat companies for being on a team/pro staff. I am still undecided for which way to go.
