Member Posts: 3899 | What was your presetation for the Merc Nats? Did it work? The rains and big winds brought to a pretty quick halt the hot mud bite for us. We started Saturday out up north, and had nothing. Moved in to the west side reefs, and pulled two fairly quick, just off the reefs on Wally Divers. We could not get anything else going, and went father south. Nothing but weeds on the west side, although the water was way clearer. Finished the day there, and caught only some short ones. Weighed only 2 for 3.5 lbs. Sunday, we went to 16' off Calumet Harbor, pulling cranks. Had them running way down, and pulled 2 quick 20 inchers. Tried several times to repeat, but the weeds moved in, and the fish must have moved out. At 11:00, we headed north to see if it cleared up. We hit a 15 1/2 way down deep, and then a 21. Caught a lot of nice saugers up to 19"! No, we weren't one of the teams that tried to weigh a sauger. Never could get that last nice on in the boat. Weighed 4 for 10 lbs, and a midpack finish. All 6 weigh fish came in pairs for us this weekend. In three different areas. Just could not repeat on anything. I bet she's on fire for Otter if the weather holds! Member Posts: 2300 Location: Berlin | Yes, good luck bud. I was out last night pulling harnesses and could not keep three lines in the water. Had two fish on that pulled the board under but I lost both of them. The rest were all between 18 and 21". With stable weather this week, the bite should only get better. As for the Merc, I was not in it but did help some guys pre-fishing. Did very well trolling on the upper lakes.

Member Posts: 3899 | No Otter St. for me. I've been going nearly every weekend since April. The wife would have the nads in ruber bands if I was to do another this weekend. I'm going to watch the boy play Baseball in a tourney, drink some Bud Lights, and relax this weekend. I ain't even gonna look at my boat! Rich trolling. That makes me laugh! hehehe Edited by Shep 6/12/2007 2:56 PM

Member Posts: 87 Location: Neenah, WI | We were in 11th after Day 1 of the Merc Nats, but had smaller fish liimit on Sunday and ended up in 24th. Missed 2 - 20 inchers right behind the boat that would likely have put us in the top 10, but that's fishin... Stayed on the same school I fished the weekend before in Van Dyne, where we finished 13th. Trolling crawler harnesses with gold blades worked best, 1 oz. inline weight from 10 - 20 feet back in 12 - 15 feet of water.
