Is this truelly an entry level tournament like the FLW says. I look at the pics and it looks like many are sponsored pro's. I am asking because I was thinking of fishing some of these but dont have much tournament experience and dont want to be way out of my league. Thanks

I will address this question. They are promoted as a entry level tournament circuit, however. It should say entry level pro-am style circuit. The guys that are fishing these are very rarely guys who have little or no experience, on the boaters side. Now, the best place would be to start on the co-angler side. See what it is all about. You will learn alot as the boaters have been in a rodeo or 2 over the years. Come on out, it is a blast.

Stacker is giving you great advice, start as a Co Angler, and get a feel for the game first.

Brad? Brad who? You KNOW I was "fishing" alone sunday.....

But back to the topic, Wondering, the FLW League is a great way to start learning about tournament fishing, by starting out as a Co-angler and progressing to a Boater and/or other team events. The formats are different and the choices a boater has to make can be much more agonizing than in a team format where you can "bounce" ideas off your partner.

Give it a shot, it's a lot of fun.

Well all in all I loved my first time out with the FLW Walleye League. I drew a great partner he worked his but off in the boat and I never had to tell him a thing other than what my program was. The only complaint I had was the temperature of the dunk tank was 5 to 10 deg. cooler than the live well water 2 of my fish rolled as soon as they hit the dunk tank. I weighed 23.02 lbs and lost 1.08 on dead fish one of my fish did die in the live well. Beleive it or not it was the smallest fish that died. I finished in 10th place and I couldn't believe it. Now I have to give a congrats to My brother Dave Koler who also fished his first flw league and he came away with First place. Not bad 2 District 2 Walleye club boys in the top 10. If things work out I will probably fish all the Wisconsin leagues next year.

In the mud? The only mud I cantacted was the mud outside the breakwall, when I went to take off. The motor didn't come up to speed, and then I realized I sunk the prop in the soft mud. Good thing it wasn't rocks! I thought the guy in front of me was going north, but he must have changed his mind! Anyway, I thought the whole bottom of the bay was zebras!

It was a nice ride south, and we were running parallel with Gordy Rabetski in his Tuffy 2060 most of the way. Chris Wiza was my coangler, and she did a great job all day. In fact, she sat on my side of the boat for the first part, as that was the only time we seemed to get any action. She did a great job handling the fish, especially the first big fish. Played it perfectly, and they were all easy net jobs for me. That 1st big fish came around 10:30 and was the first fish to hit the livewell. Not having to worry about her place in the standings, we agreed to swing for the fence, and not to keep anything smaller than 25 before 10:30. We tossed several 20-22 in fish out, including a 23 at 8:00 AM. I think we caught a dozen fish all day. Lost a whopper when it sunk the board, and when the board then submarined, it got off. I think I figured out why that happens, and what to do now. Several big sheeps, including one that was about the size of a hubcap. Hence the name, I think.

It was a pleasant day. Not enough wind to help the fish, but enough to keep the bugs away, and the heat down. One of the highlights was seeing a little girl(6 maybe) catch a 30 incher. There were 2 boats with kids out, and they were hooting and hollering up a storm, everytime the hooked up with a fish. We took a double of a 26 and a 19 at 1:15, and I wanted to repeat that pass one more time. Pulled the lines, and when I turned the key, nothing! Took the next 1/2 hour to swap a battery out and once started, we had only 1/2 hour or so to fish. Didn't catch another, as I had to leave the Opti idling. Perhaps that hurt? Got to the weigh in with 10 minutes to spare. Was surprised to see 20+ on the scale, and in the top ten! 1 unreleasable fish, we finished in 15th place. The 23 cost me a couple spots, but I was satisfied with my day. Always good to get a check, and have fun doing it.

Congrats to Butch and his brother. WalleyeX had 3 great fish for 8th place. Dave Stadler(Thumper) was steady again with a 4th place, and just got nipped for Angler of the Year. Great job, Dave.

Thanks Shep, and congrats to you and Butch on your good finishes as well. Kudos to Brian Ganski for winning the Wisconsin Angler of the Year. Fantastic job and we all hope he kicks some tail in Cleveland. Ironically, Brian was paired up with my good friend who prefished with me for this tournament. I tried to tell my buddy to just snap a few lines to help me out, but they had a fine finish as well. I was very fortunate to have three really great co-anglers this year. They were all very important in each tournament, and all did a super job. I am looking forward to the challenge the Championship brings, I cannot wait to get down to Moline for some river fishing. Thanks also to Anchor Marine in Appleton for getting my bowmount fixed in a hurry so I had it in time for the tournament.

Don't know where the mud is, unless you're talking about Bago?
