Member Posts: 1314 Location: Menasha, WI | Bounced all over the north end pulling harnesses over rocks, sand, mud, deep and shallow w/ no luck. Anchoring up and fishing slip-bobbers resulted in 3 small eyes; 12'-13' off the edge of a reef with small jig and small chunk of crawler. Aqnyboday doing any better? Feel free to share some tips ![]() Edited by Viking 7/21/2007 1:06 PM

Perchins been pretty good on the east side, though you need to pick your spots. North of pipe was dead, south of pipe better. Quite a few fish being taken by the thumpers. Small jig and nightcrawler seems to work best. Mud was DEAD trolling. Me, about 2million flies, and some guy in a maroon tuffy, about 500 yards or better from me. We were a couple of chumps. Gave it an hour and skee-dad-delled. Hope he got fish, but all I got was flies. Still coughin them up. I think they were attracted to my Pipe chicken fingers!! PS picked up a pie from the amish girl. Pretty tastee.

Did you lose it? Must've been a smart fellow ![]() I think the ticket is to bring my 4-year old with. The 2 of us hit the lake for 2 hours today and picked up some really nice perch and one nice eye in between a billion goats. The north end is thick w/ green pea soup and was pretty choppy w/ the SE winds today. The a-hole pleasure boaters didn't help at all -- now I remember why I usually fish in the early morning. Deadsticks and slips right on the bottom. It seemed that once the sheephead moved in, the perch were gone and it was time to move -- we never had more than 15 productive minutes on a spot before the sheephead tookover. Member Posts: 192 | Leave it to Shep to take it there! I was out on Saturday for a couple hours and managed to pick up 5 walleyes on the reefs north of town. It was pretty hard finding one that didn't have a perch fisherman on it. All five were between 14 1/2 & 17 inches. Nothing special, just pitching a 1/16oz green & yellow jig with half a crawler. It looked like there was a walleye tournament going on also. Does anybody know anything about this? I know there was a Bass and Sheepshead tournament. Also, did I hear right, 83 pounds won the Oshkosh Sheepshead tourny!? I remember the old days when I fished those, and 40 pounds won them. Mark

Member Posts: 744 | You heard right, Mark. 83+ pounds with 10 fish, plus a few over 70 lbs. That weight may never be beaten. We had over 51 pounds and probably finished around 45th? I don't think any of us sheephead guys were crowding the reefs though.... Dave S
