I have a question for you Tuffy owners. I like the 2060. the only thing I don't like is the 5 year warrenty. everyone else is either 20+ years or lifetime. If I was going to buy a boat it would be for 10 years. SO warrenty would be a big factor. they cost as much as the rest so I would think the warrenty would be just for 20+ years or a lifetime. I know they had some problems in the past with renegades breaking. Never heard of the 2060's having any probles to shorten the warrenty to 5 years.

the devil is in the details, so to speak.
different companies use the warranty in different ways, with the intent for all of them to provide good coverage to the consumer while being realistic about their liability as a manufacturer.

many of the longer warranties are declining over time, or have limited transferability.
Tuffy's 5 year warranty is non-declining over the entire time and fully transferable to future owners.

their rate of warranty claims is comparable to other boat manufacturers: all are very low. you can be confident buying a Tuffy that it will be a quality boat supported by a great warranty.

Do a search here for warranty, and you'll get some good insight into why Tuffy's warranty is "Only" 5 years. IMO, anything that is going to happen to the hull, will happen within the first couple of years, so anything beyond that is probably not a manufacturers defect. And I can tell you from personal experience, that Tuffy's support after the sale is second to none.

Lots of companys advertise a 10 year, or more warranty. But is it really? I had a problem with my last Lund, and it was only 2 years old. I had to pay 1/3 of the repair charge. Poor design running the livewell drain through the bottom of the hull. It cracked around the weld, and they called it operator abuse. Nothig I could do but pay the charge.

I had the same concerns as you when I was shopping for a new boat. After talking to some Tuffy owners and the people from Tuffy I felt that a 5 year warrenty was adequete. And better than some. Like Shep says alot are declining warrenties and when it does come down to using it they will find a way to make you pay.

And from what I gathered after talking to people Tuffy stands behind their product better than most, you call the factory you actually talk to someone and get a answer.

I have delt with tuffy for almost 9 years and two boats. They promptly fixed every hull problem I've had and service is second to none. The last time I had a small gell coat blemish. They not only fixed that but also repaired all the scratches and my broken cup holder.
