LAMPMANS WIN THE 2003 WALLEYE ANGLERS TRAIL SPRING VALLEY, IL TOURNAMENT
Bellevue, IA-The husband and wife team of Robert & Colleen Lampman from DeSoto, WI landed 16.85 lbs. to come from third place on Saturday, to win The Walleye Anglers Trail (W.A.T.) 2003 season opening event on the Illinois River at Spring Valley, IL on Saturday, March 15th & Sunday, March 16th.

34 teams made to the trip to the Illinois River Valley. The Barto Landing was the official launch site. Blast-off each morning was delayed up to 90 minutes by dense fog. After the fog delay, teams were greeted with slight breezes, good water clarity and a water temperature of 45 degrees, air temperatures warmed to the middle 60's under clear blue skies.

First day leaders were the team of Kevin Oyen and John Marshall, of Dubuque, IA with a six fish limit weighing 10.26 lbs. The team in second place after the first day with a six fish limit weighing 10.23 lbs. was the team of Randy Aird, and Pat Marshall of Dubuque, IA.

The teams finishing first, second, and third after Sunday were separated by less than one pound. The weights brought the scales speak highly of the skill of all W.A.T. anglers, as the area was under extreme fishing pressure, and an early spring pattern which had the walleye and sauger scattered and not yet on the spawning beds..
