WALLEYE ANGLERS TRAIL KICKOFF 2004 IN BELLEVUE, IA WITH THE BURNETT-THIEL FORD WALLEYE CHALLENGE
Bellevue, IA - 31 teams launched from the Lock & Dam ramp Saturday and Sunday, March 20-21, 2004 at 7:00a.m. for this 2-person, 2-day team walleye event.

The teams were greeted by air temperatures of 50 degrees that quickly deteroited as strong north winds gusting up to 40 miles per hour drove the temperatures down to 35 degrees at weigh-in on Saturday. Sunday conditions were no better with temperatures in the low 30's and a gusty north wind. The water temperature was 37 degrees with good water clarity. The bite was strong until mid-morning Saturday, when wind direction changed from out-of-the southwest to out-of-the north. The slow bite continued on Sunday.

The team of Galen Bremmer of Avoca, WI and Tim Watson of Blue River, WI weighed a limit of 6 walleye each day for a total weight of 28.00 pounds to claim the first place check of $3000.00. Walleye Anglers Trail to Open Season With the Burnett-Thiel Ford Walleye Challenge in Bellevue, IA
Bellevue, IA - The Walleye Anglers Trail (W.A.T.) will open the 2004 season with the Burnett-Thiel Ford Walleye Challenge on March 20-21, 2004 in Bellevue, IA on the Mississippi River. The Lock and Dam ramp will be official launch site for this 2-person, 2-day team event.

A mandatory rules meeting and complimentary dinner for all tournament anglers will take place at the Bellevue Community Center on State Street at 5:00p.m. on Friday, March 19, 2004.

Executive Tournament Director Harry Miller Jr. is eager to get the 2004 season started. "With bigger payouts, and the addition of Burnett Thiel Ford of Maquoketa, IA as title sponsor, we are anticipating an excellent event in Bellevue. With the recent change in DNR regulations, the tail-water area of the lock and dam has received no fishing pressure this winter, as in past winters. This change should make for an excellent, aggressive bite, and produce big weights for the W.A.T. anglers who are pursuing the coveted W.A.T. Team of the Year award and paid entry to the 2005 Cabela's National Team Walleye Championship."

Entry is open, as teams will compete over two days for a first place check of $8200.00 based on 100 paid entries. Entry fee for all 2004 events will be $325.00 per team, which includes big fish and team of the year awards.

The Walleye Anglers Trail teams will compete over 4 tournaments in 2004 to determine the Walleye Anglers Trail Team of the Year.

The 2004 W.A.T. Team of the Year and runner-up will earn a FREE Certificate for the 2005 Cabela's National Team Walleye Tournament.
