Miller and Schmerbach win WAT at Trempealeau |
The Walleye Anglers Trail final regular season tournament for 2004 sponsored by the Dubuque Advertiser drew 30 teams to Trempealeau, WI to compete for over $7,500 in prize money. Our sponsor the Dubuque Advertiser provided dinner for all the competitors at the rules meeting Friday evening prior to the event.
The weather for day one was bright and sunny with light north winds with temperatures in the 70's. Day two brought a two hour start delay due to heavy fog in the area.
Pat Jensen of Stoddard, WI brought in the Big Fish of the tournament on Day one a 9 lb. 2 oz. Walleye. Pat was awarded the "Big Fish" check in the amount of $300.
The team of Harry Miller Jr. and Bob Schmerbach captured the first place trophy and a $2,500 check with a huge second day weight of 18 lbs. 13 oz. Their tournament weight was 30 lbs. 3 oz. The team of Bob & Denver McKinnon made a challenge for the top spot by bringing in a tournament total weight of 29 lbs. 8 oz.
All competitors were eligible for a drawing of Mack's Lures during the tournament weekend. The teams of Miller/Schmerbach & Stuefen/Stuefen shared the Northern Battery "Charging up the Field" award by each team improving their place by seven spots from day 1 to day 2.

Walleye Anglers Trail Hosts the Dubuque Advertiser Walleye Challenge |
The Walleye Anglers Trail is traveling to Trempealeau, WI. for it's last regular season tournament of the year. The official launch site for this 2 person team event is the lock & dam boat ramp on the Mississippi River.
Tournament Director Bill Brosnahan is expecting a strong bite and ideal conditions for the W.A.T. teams as they challenge for the coveted "Team of the Year" award and a slot at the 2005 Cabela's National Team Championship. All teams will also be competing for the Northern Battery "Charging up the field" award and the Mack's Lure "Just out of the money" award.
The tournament rules meeting will be held on Friday evening, September 24, 2004 at 6:00 PM in the Trempealeau Sportsman's Club. The Dubuque Advertiser the sponsor of this event will provide a complimentary dinner for all competitors at the rules meeting.
Entry is till open for the Trempealeau event with approx. 40 teams expected. Entries are due by September 12, 2004 to avoid a $50.00 late entry fee. Entry fee for all 2004 events are $325.00 per team that includes the big fish pot.
40 Team Field Payout 1st Place - $3,400 The W.A.T. pays back to 20% of the field.
Membership is required to fish in Walleye Anglers Trail events. Membership is $20.00 per person per year. Walleye Anglers Trail Announces 'CHARGING UP THE FIELD' Award |
Bill Brosnahan the Walleye Anglers Trail Tournament Director is pleased to announce its partnership with Northern Battery and the development of the W.A.T. Tournament, NORTHERN BATTERY "CHARGING UP THE FIELD" AWARD.
Northern Battery has agreed to supply the W.A.T., batteries for its aerators to ensure the health of the Walleyes at each of our tournaments and Northern will also provide a set (2 deep cycle batteries) to the team that shows the most improvement (weight) from day 1 to day 2 of the tournament.
