JURIK, LEUENBERGER WIN WAL-MART RCL WALLEYE LEAGUE EVENT ON HOUGHTON LAKE
HOUGHTON LAKE, Mich. (June 7, 2004) Boater Mike Jurik of Saginaw and co-angler Donald Leuenberger of Saginaw combined for a total of five walleyes weighing 14 pounds, 6 ounces to claim victory at the Wal-Mart RCL Walleye League tournament held Saturday on Houghton Lake. Jurik claimed $2,415 plus a $500 bonus for the win, with Parshall earning $1,208 from the Michigan Division event.

The winning team caught their limit of walleyes in the mid lake area on crawler harnesses and blades. The team clearly worked well together, and Jurik complimented his co-angler after the event.

I had been looking forward to fishing with Don for a long time, he said. Hes experienced and knowledgeable.

Finishing second were Gus White of St. Helen ($1,242 plus $400 bonus) and John Chapo of Grass Lake ($621 plus $200 bonus) with five walleyes weighing 14 pounds, 1 ounce. Paul Curmi of Belleville ($1,035) and Bill Ayres of St. Helen ($518 plus $150 bonus) caught five walleyes weighing 13 pounds, 13 ounces to finish third. Don Curler of Bay City ($897) and Ed Neubecker of Trenton ($448) claimed fourth place with five walleyes that weighed 13 pounds, 10 ounces. Finishing fifth were Frank Coker of Beaverton ($621 plus $200 bonus) and Sean Malone of Eaton Rapids ($310) thanks to a five-walleye catch that weighed 13 pounds, 1 ounce.

The Michigan Divisions next stop will be the two-day Saginaw Bay Super Tournament on July 31-August 1.
