Propst, Murphy Win WalMart RCL Walleye League Super Tournament on Lake Oahe
PIERRE, S.D. (July 19, 2004) - Boater Robert Propst Jr. of Ft. Pierre caught a two-day total of 10 walleyes weighing 29 pounds, 4 ounces to claim victory at the Wal-Mart RCL Walleye League Super Tournament presented by Evinrude held Saturday and Sunday on Lake Oahe near Pierre. Propst earned $2,430 plus a $750 bonus for the win in the final South Dakota Division event of the season.

Propst caught his walleyes on a crawler with a 1-ounce bottom bouncer in 10 to 15 feet of water. The Wal-Mart RCL Tour veteran fished main-lake points and bays in the Pikehaven area.

Rounding out the top five boaters were Kenneth Johnson of Ft. Pierre (10 walleyes, 28 pounds, 1 ounce, $1,283 plus $500 bonus); Bob Souter of Sioux Falls (10 walleyes, 28 pounds, 1 ounce, $1,283); Larry Tupper Jr. of Watertown (10 walleyes, 26 pounds, 8 ounces, $1,080 plus $300 bonus); and Matt Lyon of Pierre (10 walleyes, 26 pounds, 6 ounces, $864).

Tupper also won the 2004 points title in the South Dakota Division.

Thomas Murphy of Pierre won the Co-angler Division with 10 walleyes weighing 28 pounds, 12 ounces and earned $1,215.

Rounding out the top five co-anglers were Jerry Jordan of Rapid City (10 walleyes, 28 pounds, 5 ounces, $675); John Sundahl of Pierre (10 walleyes, 28 pounds, 1 ounce, $607); Dave Panzer of Pierre (10 walleyes, 27 pounds, 4 ounces, $540 plus $125 bonus); and Terry Etzkorn of Pierre (10 walleyes, 27 pounds, 2 ounces, $432 plus $115 bonus).

Peggy Severson of Ft. Pierre won the South Dakota Division co-angler points title.

Boaters and co-anglers who finish in the top 25 in final points standings in each RCL Walleye League division will advance to the $100,000 RCL League Finals Sept. 2-4 on Bays de Noc in Escanaba, Mich. The winning boater at the finals will receive an Evinrude-or Yamaha-powered Ranger, Crestliner or Lund boat. Every angler who receives weight credit in a tournament earns points, with 200 points awarded to the winner, 199 points for second, and so on, except for Super Tournaments, which award 300 points to the winner, 298 to second, and so on.

RCL League Super Tournament Set For Lake Oahe
PIERRE, S.D. (July 6, 2004) - The Wal-Mart RCL Walleye League South Dakota Division will wrap up its regular season July 17-18 with a Super Tournament presented by Evinrude on Lake Oahe. The tournament is the third and final regular-season event en route to the $100,000 Wal-Mart RCL Walleye League Finals, set for Sept. 2-4 on Bays de Noc in Escanaba, Mich.

The Lake Oahe event marks the season's only two-day event and also features a larger purse. The tournament will award as much as $34,945 to as many as 200 boaters and co-anglers, up from the $25,955 payout at one-day RCL League events. The winning boater can earn as much as $5,250, including $4,500 for the win plus a $750 bonus if he is a registered owner of a Ranger, Crestliner or Lund boat. The winning co-angler can earn as much as $2,625, including a winning prize of $2,250 plus a Ranger, Crestliner or Lund bonus worth $375 if contingency guidelines are met. Payouts are based on a full field of 100 boaters and 100 co-anglers.

Anglers will take off from Spring Creek Resort at 7 a.m. both days. Saturday's weigh-in will also be held there at 3 p.m., and Sunday's weigh-in will be held at the Wal-Mart store located at 1600 N. Harrison Ave. in Pierre beginning at 3 p.m. The community is encouraged to attend daily takeoffs and weigh-ins.

In RCL League competition, boaters and co-anglers are randomly paired for the event and fish for a combined boat weight. Boaters compete against other boaters, and co-anglers compete against other co-anglers.

Four RCL Walleye League divisions - Michigan, Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin �each feature two one-day events and one two-day Super Tournament during the regular season. Every angler who receives weight credit earns points, with 200 points awarded to the winner, 199 for second, 198 for third, and so on, except for Super Tournaments, which award 300 points to the winner, 299 for second, 298 for third, and so on. These points determine angler standings.

The top 25 boaters and 25 co-anglers from each RCL League division advance to the RCL Walleye League Finals, and the top five boaters and five co-anglers from each division qualify for the $1.4 million Wal-Mart RCL Walleye Championship if they are a Ranger, Crestliner or Lund owner.
