CABELA'S MWC WORLD WALLEYE CHAMPIONSHIP SET FOR OCT. 17-19
Minnetonka, Minn. - The Mississippi River at Prairie du Chien, Wis., will be the site where 100 of North America's finest professional walleye anglers will compete for the coveted title of, Cabela's Masters Walleye Circuit(MWC) World Walleye Champions.

This fishing spectacular will take place Oct. 17-18-19, highlighted by weigh-ins at the Cabela's Prairie du Chien retail store. The public is invited to attend, including the Pro/Am on Oct. 16th; admission is free. The Championship field consists of the top 50 point accumulating teams who competed during the 2001 MWC season. Heading the Championship field will be the 2001 MWC Team of the Year, Steve DeLain and John Renschen of Red Wing, Minn.

Championship qualifiers will vie for a $100,000 cash purse, with $25,000 being awarded the World Champions. All of the teams share the prize money, which is funded by the MWC sponsors. The contestants pay no entry fees. Members of the local Falling Rock Walleye Club will assist the MWC staff with boat inspections, launching and the weigh-ins.

The Pro/Am event will precede the Championship competition. An amateur angler will be assigned to each of the 50 teams, providing them the thrill of tournament fishing with one of the top pro-walleye teams in the country. The Championship will be featured on The Outdoor Channel television network on Nov. 1st at 5:00 p.m. and Nov. 3rd at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.
